President's Message

Much thanks and appreciation to Britney Whitmire and Hospitality crew for another FAB teacher lunch! The parent volunteers do a wonderful job spoiling our teachers and staff on all the early release days.


As you can see, there are many, awesome events happening around MCES. PTA could not do what we do without the help of our volunteers. While we had a busy first half of the year, there are still more great things to come. The Giving Garden, Spring Carnival, and Boosterthon are just a few events that will need assistance in the near future. Also, the next BIG event is our Mother/Son event on March 11th. Be on the look out for more details!


Have you seen the K-2 Playground renovations hanging in the front hall. PTA is thrilled with the design and looking forward to starting this much needed renovation. If you are interested in helping with the K-2 playground renovations, please contact me at 425.922.6524 or by email.

WAKE Up and Read!

We need your new and gently used children’s books! During the month of February, WAKE up and Read will collect new and gently-used books for children ages birth-12. The goal is to collect 110,000 books in one month – enough to share 10 books per child at 10 elementary schools, child care facilities, as well as community centers around the Wake County.


There is a collection bin in the front office for your donations.

Why get involved in the MCES PTA??

We organize events like Father Daughter, Mother Son, Carnival, Grade Night Out, Battle of the Books, Science Olympiad, Tea and Tissues, Art Reflections.


We collect Books for Wake up and Read, Food Drive for the Holly Springs Food Bank, and host a Military Breakfast for our military families.


We donate over $9000 to our teachers through teacher grants, purchased and installed smart boards in our classrooms and bought and installed the 3-5 playground


We pay for the bus trips to symphony, run the holiday helpers and bring guest performers to our school.


We fund the Giving Garden, Grounds maintenance, and are raising money to completely revise the k-2 playground.


We can't, however, do any of it without volunteers.

Now is the time to get involved in your child's school.

Please consider volunteering your time for the 2016-17 school year. We have openings for all time commitment levels.

Science Olympiad Update:

Our Science Olympians are busy preparing for the North Carolina Science Olympiad regional tournament on March 19. We thank our fabulous coaches for getting them prepared for the big day.

2016 MCES Spring Carnival!

The Spring Carnival is right around the corner! We hope you plan to come out to the school on Saturday, April 9th, 4-8 p.m. for all the excitement. We will have inflatables, midway games, silent auction, kids' raffle baskets, book swap, cake walk, Scrap Exchange make-and-take craft, food trucks, Flow Circus, local vendors, and much, much more! Look for a sheet to come home soon with details on how you can purchase your tickets early.



Of course it takes a lot of people to put together such a fun event. If you are able to help with set-up, tear-down, or work a shift during the carnival, please email Missy Balleydier at mballeydier@gmail.com. Thank you so much for your support of this year's carnival!

Sales Representatives wanted for the Spring Carnival

The Middle Creek Spring Carnival is quickly approaching!


Do you have a home-based based business? We are looking for several sales representatives to display their products at the carnival on April 9th from 4-8pm. At this time, we have Rodan and Fields, Younique, Origami Owl, Becky Elizabeth Photography and Tupperware reps in place. We are hoping for at least 5 more individual sales consultants to participate. Booths will be secured on a first come, first serve basis.

MCE is looking to partner with local businesses to sponsor our Boosterthon Fun Run t-shirts

On the day of the Fun Run event, each student will receive a customized t-shirt with our school logo on the front, and the students’ laps will be tallied on the back along with each sponsor’s logo! In order to provide all 800+students and teachers with these school spirit shirts at no cost to our families, we are looking to partner with local businesses. The Giving Garden is in need

The Garden is getting ready for Spring and in need of a few items. If you can donate any of the following, please email mcescommunications@gmail.com. Thank you!

  • shed large enough for 2 wheel barrels and tools to fit into
  • large water hose
  • two wooden- 8 x 4 garden beds, 9 inches high off the ground, and 1 1/2 inches wide.
  • rolls of chicken wire

Edible Gardens 101

Educators and parents are invited to attend “Dig In” hosted by Advocates for Health in Action in partnership with Marbles Kids Museum on Sat., March 12. Willow Springs Elementary teacher Megan Lewis joins the Edible Gardens 101 panel on how to start gardens, and Cary Elementary parent Carla Delcambre will discuss gardening on the traditional calendar schedule and how to capitalize on the garden’s harvest in the summer for other activities if you wish.

West Lake Middle School 6th Grade Orientation Nights

WLMS has scheduled their 6th grade orientation nights as follows:


March 15th (Tracks 3 and 4)

April 5th (Tracks 1 and 2) from 6:30-8:00


(Families from any track can attend either evening.)

Volunteers Needed for the School Store:

We are looking for school store volunteers for the 2015-2016 school year.


Tuesdays: K-2 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am
Thursdays: 3-5 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am

The school store sells little pencils, erasers, fun little school items for kids to purchase - prices range from $0.10 - $2.00, so kids can easily afford to buy something even with a little bit of pocket change.
