My Mother's Resilience
Jacob Britton
Her story
My mother is resilient because, in 2007, she was diagnosed with cancer. The doctors told my mom that she had six months to a year at best, to live. Through prayers, God himself helped her through it, she beat the odds of cancer. Despite having cancer, all through my mom's life, she has had a back disability called spina bifida. Because of her disorder, she has grown up having surgeries all her life. But in spite of her disorder, she can do what everybody else does, it just takes her a bit longer to do it. On top of all of that, my mom wasn't even supposed to be able to have kids, but god blessed her with me, my brother, and sister. The doctors told her that she could have died giving birth to us, but that didn't stop her. That's what makes my mom who she is today.
