Anoka PROM 2023
Tonight is a special night for our students who will be attending PROM. We are excited for our upperclassman to be able to celebrate this event together in a safe manner. Students must bring their PROM Ticket and Student ID in order to be admitted into PROM. Students will not be allowed to exit and then re-enter Nickelodeon Universe. You must enter Prom by 10pm this evening. Please talk to your son or daughter about driving safely and remind them that no alcohol or drugs are allowed. Any student who is found under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or in possession will not be allowed to enter or to remain at the PROM. They will be suspended from school, ticketed by the police and a parent will be called to pick them up. Additionally, all other school rules apply at this event. Please help to make this PROM night safe and fun!
We are directing our students to park on the west ramp of the Mall of America. Students will enter through the north entrance of Nickelodeon Park (Under the ferris wheel). Students may start lining up no earlier than 8:20. We will start admitting students into the park at 8:30. The park will be closing down promptly at 11:00. Please make sure your rides arrive by 10:45 pm this evening.
Water and desserts will be provided in the Parkview Event Space within the park and are included in the ticket price.

Anoka High School Commencement Ceremony update
The commencement ceremony honoring the Anoka High School class of 2023 will be held on Monday, June 5 at 7 p.m. at Historic Goodrich Field (1798 4th Ave., Anoka), weather permitting. Should there be inclement weather, the make-up date will be Tuesday, June 6 at the same time and location. Tickets are not required for the ceremony, however, seating is general admission with no additional restrictions.
Goodrich Field will be open for seating at 5 p.m. There is limited seating on the field due to the turf. Access to the on-field seating will be available from 5 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Families and guests will need to get to those seats prior to graduates entering the field. Once the students are on the field the gates will be closed. Once the ceremony is over the gates will be reopened to let guests onto the field for pictures. Priority for these seats is for the elderly, guests with wheelchairs and guests with hearing concerns.
Graduation is a formal dignified public ceremony and a proud tradition at Anoka High School. During the ceremony we ask that families and guests help to make this a positive experience for the graduates. This includes refraining from moving seats, cheering loudly as student names are being read and causing any distraction.
Seniors and parents will be given more specific details regarding Graduation after the Senior Advisement Meeting on Monday, May 22nd.
Honors & Academic Lettering
Academic Honors Assembly
Anoka High School will be celebrating our seniors' academic achievements at our Academic Honors Assembly on Tuesday, May 30th at 7:00 pm in the fieldhouse.
Honors graduation status is determined by cumulative GPA and number of Honors courses completed with a C or higher.
Highest Honors students have a weighted GPA of 3.90 and a total of 10 honors credits. Students receiving this distinction will be wearing gold cords at graduation.
High Honors students have a weighted GPA at and above a 3.60 and a total of 6 honors credits. Students receiving this distinction will be wearing silver cords at graduation.
Honors students have a weighted GPA at and above a 3.30 with no honor course requirements. Students receiving this distinction will be wearing white cords at graduation.
For students to receive an Academic Letter their senior year they need to have a cumulative weighted GPA at or above a 3.75.
Students and parents who have met these criteria have received an email notifying them of their awards on Thursday, April 27th.
If you have any questions please contact Mr. Lakanen at 763-506-6225.

Pictured here: Misky Hersi, Surer Ahmed, Fatima Abdi and Asma Abubaker display the cake with Mr. Farley!
On Thursday, April 28th, student leaders organized our second annual Eid Al-Fitr celebration at Anoka High School! Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is a very important holiday in the Islamic calendar. Students brought food to share and enjoyed festivities including eating, laughing, games, and even a little karaoke!
One of the best parts about the Anoka Family Eid Al-Fitr party is that staff members have the chance to learn more about our students and their rich traditions. Special thanks to Misky Hersi and Surer Ahmed for sharing a presentation about Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr and the importance of these traditions in their faith. As educators, we always want to keep learning and growing so we can best meet the needs of our students!
Finally, a huge thanks to all of the families who shared a dish and to the students who set up such a wonderful event. Wonderful job students, and thank you for a meaningful and enjoyable celebration!
