Dear ACS Family,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we’ve worked diligently to navigate through the new guidelines to try to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. Effective Tuesday, January 18, Athens City Schools will follow the updated COVID protocols posted by ADPH/CDC. As always, you should follow the guidance of your physician if there is a discrepancy. Please know that this is a fluid situation, and guidelines may change again.

If your child is home with a positive test result or in quarantine, please carefully read the guidelines and adjust accordingly. Our nurses will need your help to ensure that the safety protocols are being followed. We simply do not have the personnel to check dates, so we will need to rely on parent help.

As positive cases and quarantines rise in our buildings, we will evaluate the need to implement e-Learning on a school-by-school basis. We will make every effort to communicate any school schedule changes in a timely manner, however, please be prepared in the event that a change is made.

Please be assured that Athens City Schools is closely monitoring the situation, as the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our utmost priority. We are making every effort to maintain in-person instruction. Also, please understand this is a rapidly changing situation. We truly appreciate your partnership in navigating this ever-changing pandemic.

• Masks are required on all school buses.
• Masks are recommended while indoors, especially these first few weeks back.
• Maintain 3 foot distancing when possible.
• Continue to practice good hygiene (make sure you have soap and hand sanitizer).
• Continue with sanitization measures.
