Dear K.B. Polk Faculty & Staff,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce K. B. Polk's new principal, Ms. Billiups. Please take a moment to read her biography below. Formal introductions will be made next week.
Thank you to those who played a vital role in the process of the principal selection during the community panel.

MEET MS. KOURTNEI BILLUPS, K. B. POLK'S NEW CAMPUS PRINCIPAL
Kourtnei Billups is a servant leader with a heart and passion for educating and providing opportunities for others. She is a native of Chesapeake, VA and a graduate of Hampton University in Hampton, VA. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Business Management, she relocated to Dallas, TX to fulfill her dream of becoming an educator.
Ms. Billups’ career in education began in 2010, serving as a math intervention teacher, grades 3-5 at Thomas Haley Elementary School in the Irving Independent School District. The following year, she joined the instructional team at W.T. Hanes Elementary; where she taught kindergarten and second grade gifted and talented. While at W.T. Hanes, Ms. Billups served as grade level chair, parent and community liaison, chaired a number of student and faculty committees, and earned her master’s degree in Education Administration for Lamar University.
In 2015, Ms. Billups became an Assistant Principal at Anne Frank Elementary in the Dallas Independent School District, serving over 1,100 students and their families. As a member of the leadership team at Anne Frank Elementary, she worked diligently to erase the opportunity gap within the community by creating a positive culture and learning environment, and promoting academic excellence for all. Working together, Anne Frank earned 5 distinctions from the Texas Education Agency. As an assistant principal, she was also invited to participate in the district’s first assistant principal cohort for School Retool Fellows and chosen to represent her feeder pattern as a member of the assistant principal focus group.
Ms. Billups is currently an Assistant Principal at L.V. Stockard Middle School, where she serves the students and families of the Dallas Independent School District, as they strive to become the premier middle school of choice making transformational change in their community. She works collaboratively with educators at Stockard Middle School to achieve growth in all academic areas to create a positive and safe environment for all stakeholders.
Away from the schoolhouse, she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the Junior League of Dallas, and serves as an event volunteer for Men of Hope Inc. 501 (c) (3) charity, Pat and Emmitt Smith charities, and the African American Museum of Dallas. As a certified Zumba instructor, she also teaches free aerobics classes for schools, churches and community events as she is dedicated to educating and providing opportunities for others.
Ms. Billups knows from experience that teachers have the power to change the lives of students. She believes that every child deserves an excellent education filled with opportunities. She is committed to ensuring the students and families in the Dallas Independent School District have premier educational experience.
We are excited to have Ms. Kourtnei Billups join the Northwest Cluster community and look forward to her expertise and her wealth of knowledge to help move K.B. Polk Vanguard to the next level.
