Immune System
Biology
What is immune system?
The immune systems consists of organs, cells, and molecules that fight infections. The immune system works with other body systems to prevent infection.
Types of white blood cells
Phagocytes engulf and destroy pathogens.
T cells destroy infected u a pathogen.
B cells produce proteins that stop pathogens from infecting body cells, it called antibodies.
Types of proteins in immune system
Antibodies they are proteins that bind to and destroy foreign invaders in our bodies.
Complement proteins weaken pathogen's cell membrane. Then water enter the cell and burst it.
Interferons are proteins produced by body cell that have been infected by a virus.
Immunity prevents a person from getting sick from a pathogen.
Immune system is the protection from later on sickness.
But there are two types of immunity:
Passive immunity is immunity that occurs without your body having a virus. It comes from mother's milk and in our DNA.
Active immunity refers to the process of exposing the body to an antigen to generate an adaptive immune response and it takes time.
