Each state and college/university has its own FAFSA deadline. Pay careful attention to deadlines!!! Try and get your FAFSA application submitted by March 1, 2016; in NC, monies are available until it runs out! REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY'S FAFSA DEADLINE...IS IT A "SUBMITTED BY" OR "RECEIVED BY" DEADLINE?
How to Create an FSA ID
Each student and one parent will need an FSA ID, which is your electronic signature. You will need an FSA ID before completing the FAFSA online.
You may choose any of these three methods to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):
- Apply online (Recommended) or
- Complete a PDF FAFSA (Note: PDF FAFSAs must be mailed for processing) or
- Request a paper FAFSA by calling us at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) or 319-337-5665. If you are hearing impaired, contact the TTY line at 1-800-730-8913.
