CHS Community Newsletter
September 1, 2022
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
We are in the final countdown for the start of the school year. This week was busy with professional development for our teachers and final preparations for the school year. Our Canby students continue to amaze me with their engagement, enthusiasm, and talent! A group of choir, dance, and women’s and men’s soccer players led the entire district staff in a fun inservice session. They did so with poise and spirit that was inspiring. This is just one of so many examples that make me “Canby proud!”
It was wonderful to see many of you at our Open House event last evening. It was a fun event with tours, yard games, a barbeque, and tons of booths. Thanks to our Cougar Crew student leaders, community partners, and Burgerville, Cutsforths, Sysco, and the Canby Booster Club for supporting this event.
And just a couple of reminders as we start the school year. Student schedules will be released tomorrow, 9/2 after 5:00 pm via StudentVue. Also, we have gotten some questions about school supply lists. While we don’t post an official list, we encourage students to start the year with pens/pencils, notebooks, paper, and other tools that help them be organized. Teachers will go over any specific requirements the first week of school.
On behalf of the entire CHS staff, we are looking forward to welcoming students on Tuesday, September 6. Students should bring their fully charged IPad. Tech support will be available. Also, please remember that we have a new schedule. Classes now begin at 8:40 and end at 3:40. Please see the new bell schedule as well as transportation information in this newsletter.
We are so excited to officially kick off the 2022-2023 school year.

Get involved in the CHS fall play: The Servant of Two Masters!
This hilarious show is adapted from the classic Italian comedy by Carlo Goldoni. The hijinks of the many colorful characters are framed by the story of a struggling theatre -- will the play's convoluted schemes be enough to get each character their heart's desire, even as the show itself dangles by a thread?
AUDITIONS will be after school on Tuesday, September 6 & Wednesday, September 7, with callbacks on Thursday, September 8. Rehearsals are Monday-Friday after school and begin September 12. Performances will be the evenings of November 3-5 and 10-12.
Any CHS student can audition! Email director Sullivan Mackintosh (email@example.com) for info about signing up for auditions, or email tech director Jared Jonas (firstname.lastname@example.org) for info about theatre tech opportunities.
