New Pop Up PD! It’s May…PSSAs are over and spring has sprung! Are you looking for ways to keep your students engaged for the remainder of the school year? Join our next Pop Up PD focused on Active Learning Strategies. Click here to learn more about incorporating Active Learning Strategies in your classroom! This Pop Up PD is an independent learning session you can view any time! When you follow the link to the BASD Professional Learning webpage you will find an interview with Mike Miltenberger, one of the BASD Health/Phys. Ed. Teachers who has done much research and work in the area of Active Learning. Mike explains why Active Learning is beneficial for students and provides sample activities that can be incorporated into any classroom. The video also include highlights of students participating in some of the Active Learning activities Mike shares. If you have any questions or would more information from Mike, you can reach him at mmiltenberger@boyertownasd.org.
Please share these reminders with your students:
- Students should not be trading Pokemon or other cards on the buses or in school.
- Smart Watches were a popular Christmas gift. Students may wear them if they are not accessing cell phone features such as calling and texting and as long as they are not a distraction from learning. If students are distracted by their watch, then they will be expected to put it away in their schoolbag. Repeated violations will be treated the same as cell phones - watches will be kept in the office until the end of the day. Next step would be that parents have to come pick it up.
Due to the number and variety of allergies in the building, students are reminded that there should be no eating on school buses. Also, just a reminder that we are a latex-aware building. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain a safe environment for our students.
