Dismissal and Transportation Changes
Dear parents,
We need your help! Dismissal has become a source of angst for students and teachers with so many last minute transportation changes. Children should have a regular dismissal procedure which is given to the teacher at the beginning of the school year. Any changes to this procedure should be due to an emergency as little ones are confused and anxious about these changes. In order to keep the children safe, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
Follow your regular dismissal procedures as much as possible.
A note or email to the teacher (and copied to the attendance line) by 8:00 AM or a call to the office before 3:00 PM will be the only transportation changes honored for that day.
After 8 AM, all emergency changes must be made to the office (NOT THE TEACHER)
Do not count on teachers to check their emails between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
We encourage you to allow your children to walk home with an umbrella when it rains rather than make a transportation change.
Thank you in advance for your help in creating a plan for your family that will minimize dismissal changes and maximize on our children’s well-being.

Walk to School Day
Walk to School Day is Thursday, October 6th!
Kids in 40 countries around the world are walking! Kids in all 50 states are walking! Kids at Doyle Elementary are walking, too! Last year we had a record number of kids participate in the: Doyle Walk to School Grade Challenge. Which grade rules the school for walking? Let’s see… Each grade is competing to bring the largest turn-out ever. Join the fun and walk, bike, scoot or skate to school on Thursday, October 6th! Each grade will have a grade specific poster to sign. Totals will be tallied that morning with the winning grade receiving a shout out during announcements for largest participation. For more information about Walk to School Day, visit: http://www.walkbiketoschool.org/ or http://www.iwalktoschool.org/.
