THANKFUL
Around noon last Wednesday, EEA students had to be evacuated from the building due to a fire notification occurring inside the main high school building. As most students at THS and TSA were enjoying lunch, our students had begun or were already a good half hour into their "nap" time. As we quickly woke our sleeping babies and exited fifty groggy preschoolers from the building, I was in awe of the kindness surrounding us. Without hesitation and in a blink of an eye, TISD staff members, CTE interns, JROTC Cadets, and high school students rushed towards EEA and asked how they could be of assistance. ROTC instructors brought out blankets to wrap around our students. Teenagers, whom we have never met, selflessly took off jackets to give to our preschoolers. Secondary teachers scooped up and held our tiniest cats for well over thirty minutes as we waited for the "all clear." But what was absolutely astounding to see was the student body forming human circles that encompassed every EEA class. These circles of students provided warmth against the damp cold air. They became a shield from any element imaginable and yet kept the students engaged with humor, songs, or just friendly conversation.
I remember the concerns several parents had with EEA's location at THS; but, I am here to affirm that we are in the best place in the district and we are surrounded by the most amazing people. For that alone, we are extremely grateful and incredibly blessed.
Trick or Treat: Brush Your Teeth!
Trick or Treat!
There is opportunity for learning all around us!
Our maintenance department delivered some BIG news last Friday! Our playground will be installed within the next two weeks with our solar shade soon to follow. These guys have been hard at work already clearing the grounds. They are coordinating efforts to keep our students safe while minimizing loss of outdoor play space during the installation process.
Our teachers are using the time to build experiences and vocabulary!
Again, we are in the BEST district on earth.

REMINDERS
SNACKS
At EEA, we are growing minds and bodies!
Please remember that each child needs to bring two nutritious, ready to serve snacks from home each day. One for the morning and one in the afternoon. Snacks should not require cutlery, cutting or reheating.
Balanced snacks help to keep our kiddos full longer as they spend a lot of energy exploring their environment. Great snack choices include one item of produce (veggie or fruit) and one item of either a fat, protein, or whole grain cereals or breads. (American Association of Pediatrics).
Some excellent snack ideas are:
- sandwich cubes
- cheese and crackers with Applesauce squeeze pouch
- Plain low-sugar cereal (Mini Wheats, Cheerios, Kix) and fruit
CHANGE OF CLOTHES
-Two complete changes of clothes, including socks, pants, shirts, and underwear
-Morning and afternoon snacks
-Nap time materials
-Reusable water cup
For actively potty training students:
-Wipes
-Pull Ups or training underwear
These items should be restocked on a weekly basis.
Conferences
Parents may request a conference with a teacher if they would like to discuss their child’s progress. Parents must call the Academy to schedule a time that does not restrict the learning of other students.
Teachers will reach out to parents to schedule a conference at any time they feel there is a need.
LUNCH COUNTS
The staff at THS needs our lunch count by 9:15, so parents please let your teacher know whether or not a lunch will be needed if your child is coming in late.
Coffee in the Cafe
Coffee in the Cafe is held each Friday from 3:30 pm to 4:45 in our center's cafeteria. If you are unable to enjoy a cup of coffee with us, please leave us an "EspressNote." EspressNotes can be completed at any time and reviewed by staff on Fridays.
We will keep the coffee pot full for you!
