Pleasant Valley Post
April 2018
April is here! Bring on the flowers, baseball, soccer, and...all things spring! It's been an interesting winter weather-wise and I'm ready for some sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Please continue to emphasize the importance of school and school attendance with your student as spring progresses. It's a critical time of year for our children. We love to see the growth they've made and spring is the time for them to show off all they've learned. Whether they are involved in PALS testing, Project Based Assessements, Local Alternative Assessments or SOL tests, we want them to have every opportunity to fully demonstrate what they have learned and be proud of how far they have come. Being in school every day is important. Further, good school attendance establishes good patterns for later in life as well.
Thank you for all you do to support the success of your student and our school! We are looking forward to a strong finish to the school year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hammill
Principal

March Madness - PVES Tournament of Funniest Books Was a Success!
Our school Literacy Team planned our Book Rally and invited School Division Curriculum Supervisior for Language Arts, Mrs. Kim Tate, to serve as our emcee! She did an amazing job! We played games, danced, students chanted for their favorite, and finally - the winning book was revealed. The energy and excitement around the bIooks and reading was so much fun! Even our construction workers were excited and couldn't wait to hear which book won!
I've posted pictures below - enjoy them and if you haven't already, please talk to your student about the tournament and our Book Rally!!! This event was definitely one of the highlights of last month!
