Swanson Elementary November News
November 4, 2022
Message from the Principal
Dear Swanson Families,
Professional Learning Communities
Swanson Elementary School has embraced the Professional Learning Communities model for school improvement. The three “big ideas” of a PLC are a focus on learning, collaboration, and a focus on results. Every teacher is a member of at least one PLC team that will meet regularly to address curriculum, instruction, and assessment with a focus on learning and results for all our students. In addition to weekly team meetings, vertical team meetings across grade levels will also be organized to ensure continuity from building to building and grade level to grade level. On November 11th our PLC focus will be on our ELA (English Language Arts) Standards at each grade level. Please contact me at anytime with questions.
Title 1
Thank you for those who were able to attend the Annual Title 1 Meeting and for those who completed the online survey. Building a strong partnership with our families is very important to me as your principal. If you have any Title 1 questions please call me at anytime 861-5302.
Time to Give Thanks
November is here already. Where has the time gone? I would like to take a moment to give thanks to so many people that make Swanson an amazing school for all students:
- Our Office Team Tina and Charisse for being the friendly faces of the office and helping all of our students along with our dedicated nurse Ms. Hazel who takes care of everyone! Thanks to our custodians for keeping our school safe and clean.
- Our Teachers and Paraprofessionals who are always greeting our students everyday and filling their day with hands-on, engaging learning activities.
- Special thank you to our substitutes! We couldn't be open everyday without you. We have an outstanding group of dedicated subs for Swanson and are so thankful.
- To our Bus Drivers who keep the wheels rolling to and from school for our students who ride the bus.
- Words cannot express how thankful we are for all our Swanson students and families. Together we make Swanson a great place to grow, learn and play!
Wishing you all a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving Break November 24-27, 2022.

From the Swanson Library:
Thank you so much to all the families who shopped the Scholastic Book Fair! It was a “Sweet” Success.
The winners from the “Golden Ticket” drawing were Carson P, Aiden M., Hennessee H., Gavino T., and Vicky G. Congratulations!
The best guess for the Candy Jar estimate was made by Arya K. Congratulations Arya! The actual number of candies in the jar was 272.
Special thanks to the Sweet Swanson Staff for all of their support and especially to the Wonderful Volunteers who decorated the library and helped run the fair: Julie G., Amber S., Janell G., Sara H., Loretta, Sarah M., Shelby S., Kaitlin W., and Jessica M. I couldn’t do this without your help!
Our next book fair will be at Fireside Books in Downtown Palmer starting on Black Friday (right after Thanksgiving). Just say “Swanson Elementary” when you go to our local bookstore. They have a great selection of gifts and new and used books. Thank you for supporting a local business and our school!
Thank you for your support and participation!
A big thank you to Three Bears for their donation of food for our concession stand!
