The Weekly Hoot
September 4 - September 10, 2017
Greetings All -
Well, I don't even know how to begin this Hoot! This past week has just seemed surreal in so many ways. When I wrote the last Hoot on Friday, August 26th, there was a real threat of missing the first day of school. Never did I dream it would be a whole week! Who could have ever imagined all that has happened in the past 9 days? It has been devastating, scary, emotional, uplifting, and heartwarming all at the same time. I am so glad that our county and our school came out as well as it did. I am so proud of how we have all pulled together to help others in need. I can't imagine being in a disaster situation like some of these schools are facing, but I know that if we ever are, the people I work with would prevail. This morning in church, we ended the service with "Texas, Our Texas" as the closing song. I am pretty sure there were some teary-eyed folks as we all sang along. I haven't thought about that song in forever, but this morning, the words of it reawakened in me the immense pride I have of being a Texan, especially in this wonderful county and community where I reside. I love Texas. I love Anderson-Shiro. And most importantly, I love each and everyone of you!! If anything good can come from a disaster such as Harvey, I hope it is the fact that we all realize we are in this life together to help each other, and I can't imagine a better tribe than the one I work with. :)
Now on to school news! LOL!
On Tuesday, please remember to get here as early as possible (like 7AM) if you want a parking spot. It's going to be a crazy morning, but we will get through it. We always do. :)
Also, on Tuesday, either Connie, Laney, or I will come around and see if there is anything you need. Please know, however, our first priority on Tuesday will be to make sure we know how each and every student is getting home. Our bus tags had been shipped, but we had not received them before Harvey. Hopefully with all of the mail stuff going on, they will be here on Tuesday, but if not we have another plan in place. Either way, we will have someone come around and put on bus tags (or something) as soon as we have an accurate list of bus riders.
We are basically moving everything back a week as far as dates and events go. I have sent out an email, but I will also update the Important Dates and Events google doc that you have in our shared folder you got during inservice.
As always, I am proud of all of you and how much work you have put into making sure this year is going to be fantastic. Crazy start and all, I know it is going to be an amazing year!
Let's get this party started people! See all of you on Tuesday!
Building Champions!
Love to all -
