Youth in Government
We would like to wish a strong congratulations to all of the students who participated in this year’s State Youth in Government Model Legislature Program.
The Easley Delegation is well-known at the state level and is frequently acknowledged as the delegation with the greatest school spirit, grit, commitment, and participation. As a result, the expectations set forth for these students are never low. However, these kids continue to outperform expectations year after year, never failing to preserve the Easley High School name and reputation.
YIG elects seven state officials each year: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Superintendent of Education, Speaker of the House, Secretary of State, Comptroller General, and Attorney General. These positions are aggressively fought for and require delegates to deliver presentations to gatherings of over 1200 delegates, as well as answer questions in public forums. It is a tremendous honor to be elected to one of these positions, and Easley has held at least one elected seat every year for the previous five years. We had the honor of holding three of the seven state titles at this year's conference: Ava Westhart as Superintendent, Blake Hydrick as Speaker, and Lucia Ramos-Calleros as Secretary. This is a school record and a remarkable accomplishment for a school. We had the pleasure of putting forward four new candidates for office this year: Aiden Sewell, Anna Grace Rice, Breonna Small, and Lucia Ramos-Calleros. We are extremely proud of Anna Grace Rice, who was elected Secretary of State, as well as each of these candidates for their relentless labor and devotion to their campaigns, as well as our thirteen Easley delegates who served in YMCA leadership roles.
We are also quite proud of two of our delegates, Cayden Freeze and Caleb Blackston, who were recognized for writing and presenting a bill of exceptional quality, for which they were honored and granted a plaque.
Environmental Club
Environmental Club is dedicated to help our EHS community by recycling and aiding in the beautification process of the school. We learn about environmental issues and how we can help the community. Everyone is welcome to jump in to the club at any point in the year. Hope to see you at our meetings! We meet on Mondays from 3:30-4:10 in room 144 (Mrs. Lycett's room)
Speech and Debate Club
Come join the first ever Speech and Debate Club in Pickens County! Join us in Mrs. Ear's room, room 208, on Mondays after school until 4:45. We will practice our debate skills and prepare for upcoming TOURNAMENTS!
Spanish Club
The purpose of the Spanish Club is to foster interest in the Hispanic culture, to provide an opportunity to speak Spanish in an informal setting and to learn more about the Hispanic world. All students with an interest in Spanish are welcome to join the Spanish club and participate in its activities. Membership: Cost is $3. Membership and participation in the club and activities will enhance your learning experience of the language. Belonging to clubs and organizations is an asset when applying for colleges and scholarships. We typically meet once a month.
