Knightly Update November 8, 2020
Edition Vol 9 Issue 15
Good morning. This week, we pause to express our deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to our Veterans for their brave and selfless service to our country. We offer our heartfelt thanks to those who have ever worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. Thank you for answering the call of duty; thank you for your courage; and thank you for the extraordinary sacrifices you and your families have made. We are forever grateful for your service. In honor of Veterans Day, school will not be in session on Wednesday.
As we take time to honor our veterans, I ask that our students find ways to celebrate those who served, and reflect on the sacrifices made to provide us with the freedoms we often take for granted. As such, I urge any student that chooses to share their opinions and personal ideologies to do so in a respectful manner and eliminate personal attacks against those that believe differently. At the same time, I hope our students will listen to and hear the opinions of others in a respectful and mature manner. I recognize the passion that surrounds this year's election and recent events, and I acknowledge that our students are not immune to current events and happenings; but I do hope that they will interact and respond in a respectful manner, whether they agree or disagree with the opinions of their peers. Our students model what they see, and our school community has not been exempt from the type of personal attacks seen in person and on social media, and it is unfortunate, disheartening and sad. But it is my hope that our students will do better and be better, and as a uKNIGHTed school community we work together to help our students in this effort. Thank you.
As you know, this month I will hold a series of community meetings to discuss the opening of our new school. The dates and times of these meetings are listed below. Due to COVID-19 and necessary safety standards, seating limits and face coverings will be enforced at each meeting. If you are interested in attending any of the upcoming meetings, please download the "Community Meeting Dates" document (below) and click on the link within the document to reserve a seat. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Congratulations and good luck to the members of our swim & dive team, badminton team, cross country teams, and girls volleyball team that competed or are headed to state tournament play. I am proud of what you accomplished this season and look forward to learning how you do in state tournament play. While circumstances prohibit us from cheering for some teams in person, please know we are rooting for you and know you will do your best to represent yourself, your team and our school. Good luck, Knights!
I hope everyone has a great week. Mid-quarter grades will be posted for students and parents/guardians to review Friday afternoon. Please remember to review your child's academic progress via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you have any questions about your child's progress, please contact the appropriate instructor.
Have a very nice week, and to those of you that have served our Nation, thank you. Happy Veterans Day.
