Steele Report
August 2019
Principal's Message
Hello Comet Nation,
On behalf of the staff at Steele High School, I would like to welcome you to the up and coming school year. I wanted to share a few helpful bits of information to assist students in preparing for the first day of school.
⋄ Doors open for students beginning at 7:25 am and first period begins promptly at 7:45. The day ends at 2:45 pm.
⋄ Student schedules are available via PowerSchool. Email your school counselor with any questions.
⋄ On the first day only, students will report to their homeroom upon arrival. Homerooms are listed on the student's schedule. We will also post homeroom lists on the doors of Steele on August 16th.
⋄ The only supplies needed for the first day are a writing utensil, notebook, and folder. Teachers will hand out the class syllabus on the first day which outlines the supplies needed.
⋄ Due to high school bussing, parents will no longer be able to drop students off in the front lot outside the cafetorium and CLC. We ask for your patience the first few days as we work out our new traffic patterns. If you would like to utilize the high school busing, please contact the transportation office at 440-988-2633.
⋄ We will have a Freshman and New Student Orientation on August 16th for students only from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. We look forward to welcoming our newest Comets!
⋄ Our Open House is on August 19th from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. We encourage all parents to attend the parent meeting which will begin promptly at 5:00pm in the Cafetorium. The MLS administration will be reviewing new procedures for the upcoming school year.
⋄ Each child in the district must have one parent or guardian with a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account for the 2019 -2020 school year. Please see below for more information.
As you prepare for the start of a new school year, feel free to contact the main office with any other specific questions, comments, or concerns!
I am looking forward to having an awesome school year!
Go Comets,
Mr. Tellier

PowerSchool Parent Portal Account
Each child in the district must have one parent or guardian with a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account for the 2019-2020 school year.
PowerSchool Parent Portal Access allows parents the ability to check their child's grades, attendance, and (new for 2019!) update all student demographic, emergency, and medical information. This system replaces the hard copy blue cards and emergency medical cards that we ask parents to fill out each year.
In order to create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, parents will need each child's Access ID and Password to sign up for an account. (Note: To receive your child's Access ID and Access Password, please contact the main office.) The district will also provide assistance at Open House on August 19th.
Late Arrival and Early Release Applications
Late Arrival or Early Release is a special privilege for juniors and seniors who have consecutive study hall periods at the beginning or end of the day. Applications are now available and must be turned into Mrs. Doehr by Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
Once the application has been approved, students will be notified by their school counselor and have Late Arrival or Early Release placed on their schedule. Students may not leave early until their application has been approved and their schedule updated by their school counselor. There will be no Late Arrival or Early Release on the first day of school.
