National School Counseling Week- February 7-11, 2022
The theme of this year’s National School Counseling Week is “Better Together.” To help support student success, school counselors often collaborate with other school staff, such as our school psychologist, RBHS counselor, school nurse and leadership team. We are all here for your students, working together to serve their needs as they learn to be their best self.
Whether it’s teamwork, compromise, learning to lean on each other or embracing our differences, these are skills our school counselors’ model for students every day. School counselors teach our students about safety, friendship, kindness, how to practice empathy and many other topics.
At OBE, we are fortunate to have two full time school counselors, Jackie Wilson and Amber Marshall, as well as a full time RBHS counselor, Dr. Vaughn. Judy Blume, author of “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing,” said, “Our fingerprints don’t fade from the lives we touch.” At our school, counselors spread kindness, show empathy, provide a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. Together, we really are better. Thank you for celebrating National School Counseling Week with us.

Technology Fair Update
If your student is working on an individual or group project for the technology fair, please know that their have been changes at the district level and all projects need to be turned in to Mrs. Lowry by February 18th. While the district level tech fair is not until March 29th, all students with completed projects must have them digitally uploaded and registered at a much earlier date. That is a long process that Mrs. Lowry will be assisting students with. Please email klowry@horrycountyschools.net with any questions.
