Yearbook Deadline

The deadline to order LMES Yearbooks is on Friday, December 11. The cost is $30 for a yearbook which will be distributed in the Spring.

Multiplication Quizzes

Students have been prepared and are ready for their multiplication quizzes. Thank YOU for helping your child study on a daily basis for these fact fluency quizzes. Don't forget about using www.xtramath.org as one way to study multiplication facts.

*Mixed Quizzes will take place every Wednesday starting in January. Many students have trouble with mixed quizzes, so please study all facts in order to be ready for the mixed quizzes.

Math Update

We will wrap up Chapter 5/Division this week with a Chapter Test on Wednesday. Next, we will move on to Chapter 6/Multiplication and Division Patterns.

ELA Update

We are finishing our unit of Non-Fiction Text Features with a project which will be completed in class. We will continue using Non-Fiction Text Features throughout the school year.


Another ELA focus for our class this week is on the the author's purpose of writing Non-Fiction articles and books. Authors may write in order to persuade, inform, or entertain.


Our class will continue our grammar study this week with a focus on adjectives.

Science Update

Our class has enjoyed learning about water features including: oceans, seas, rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, and glaciers. We have also learned about land forms including: islands, caverns, valleys, mountains, canyons, and volcanoes.


Next, we will move on to sudden changes on Earth including: earthquake, volcanic eruption, landslide, and flood. We will also study slow changes on Earth including: weathering, erosion, and deposition. Some information is included in our Science Book and some is part of the packet that we are highlighting.

Social Studies Update

This week, we will read and study the information in Lesson 4 of Chapter 4 . By the end of the week, students will use their knowledge of non-fiction text features to have an open book quiz on Lesson 4. There will not be a study guide that comes home for the quiz. Lesson 4 is on pages 96-107 in the South Carolina Adventure Book.
