Easley Weekly Update
Everything You Need to Know For The Coming Week
August 30, 2020
A Note from the principal
We made it through the second week of remote learning and the students and teachers seem to be getting into a groove. Thank you for your continued support through this journey. Please continue to keep lines of communication open with your child's teacher and reach out to administration if there is anything we can do to provide further support.
Materials and Resources
Several grade levels passed out leveled readers to students this week and other grades will be doing so in the near future. Please be reminded that many of the books we are sending home are part of our book room, classroom libraries, and leveled literacy intervention kits. These books are the heart and soul of our reading program so please do your best to protect them and make sure they are returned to the teachers. We are distributing these resources as we know how important it is for students to have access to appropriately leveled instructional text. The replacement cost of the little leveled readers is $10 a copy, so even though they may not look like much, they are very expensive and are part of an instructional set. Many grade levels also sent home the Eureka math workbooks this week. One way to help your child be successful with remote learning is to create a learning space where all of the supplies and materials are readily available. If you need any assistance in creating a learning space or need additional school supplies, please don't hesitate to reach out to either the classroom teacher or administration as we are happy the help.

2020-2021 School Improvement Team
We have four parent seats opening up for the 2020-2021 school year. The SIT is the governing body of the school and positions are elected. The team meets once a month on Monday evenings at 5:30-6:30. There is typically one additional meeting as we draft the new School Improvement Plan. The time commitment on this team is minimal beyond the monthly meetings. As a member of the team you will learn a great deal about the inner workings of our school and programs and become a part of the decision making process in terms of budgeting and programming. An electronic ballot will be sent out in next Sunday's update, September 6th with our first meeting being held on Monday, September 14th. If you are interested in serving on the SIT, please complete the survey below no later than Thursday, September 3rd. School Improvement Team Interest Form
Hotspots
We understand that several families have requested hotspots due to poor internet connections. At the school, we are currently out of hotspots and are awaiting another delivery. We continue to have families who do not have any connectivity and they will take priority over families who have poor or shaky connectivity. We understand this frustrating and will provide hotpots as we get them.
