Manitou Springs High School

Mustang News - September 2nd, 2022

From The Principal...

Happy September! This week included numerous meaningful opportunities for deep learning across our campus both inside of class and beyond. For example, 11th graders created photo frames representing their identities in an English class to post around the classroom, 9th graders honed their observational skills in their Physical Science course, and football players practiced their teamwork and resiliency in our first home football game on Friday! Go Mustangs!

From The Arts Department...

This past summer two Manitou Art students attended a “pre-college” summer session at MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art and Design) for an intensive, three-week session.

Both students chose an area or “medium” that they wanted to focus on during that time. Ethan chose animation and ended up creating a short, one minute film. Lindsey decided upon studio painting.

The students agreed that it was a great experience, and awesome to be around like-minded people, at the same time it was very intense and challenging. Ethan and Lindsay were first introduced to MCAD last fall when a guest speaker from the school came to MSHS to tell students about all the programs available.

From The World Language Department...

Spanish I students learned about Introductions and Greetings in the target language, and worked in teams during the Demonstration of Learning activity.
