It was a great week last week at Sparkman as our students raised money for 15 year old Braxton Townsel who is recovering from cancer. The student body helped grant his wish of traveling to Hawaii! Thank you WAFF 48 News, WHNT News 19 WZDX Huntsville and WAAY-TV for coming out and filming the reveal!!
Congratulations to our students featured last week for being named into ACT Club 30 for scoring 30 or higher on the ACT!
We want to congratulate Ethan Ellis and Jacob Whitlock on being recipients of the Northrop Grumman scholarship through the National Merit program! Way to go Senators!

Great News! PowerSchool online registration for 2019-2020 starts soon! ALL currently enrolled students must register April 22 - May 31, 2019 for continued enrollment in the Madison County School System. In order to register current students, you must have a SNAP code which is being mailed to your home address on April 15. Registration for new students also begins on April 22. New students do not need a code to register. PowerSchool registration information and links are under the Registration tab on all MCSS school websites.
The Senior Awards Ceremony is May 8th at 2:00 p.m. in Gym One. Seniors, please turn in all scholarship offers you have received to the College and Career Center as soon as possible.
If your student did not pick up their cap and gown on the scheduled date of April 11th, Herff Jones will be back. A makeup date has not been scheduled at this time, but will soon.
GRADUATION INFORMATION
1. Are tickets required for guests to attend the graduation? Tickets are required to attend graduation. Each student will receive 9 tickets. The tickets are distributed during the graduation rehearsal on May 20. Only students can pickup their tickets. If we have extra tickets they will be left at the ticket booth at the VBC and are typically available for pickup after lunch. Extra tickets are available on the first come first served basis.
2.What time is rehearsal? We have two rehearsals. Graduation rehearsal time: The first graduation rehearsal is May 20 at SHS at 2:00 p.m. The 2nd rehearsal is May 21 at VBC at 7:30 a.m. Graduation is at 2:00 pm on May 21 and students are required to be lined up at 1:00 pm.
3. What is the attire for graduation?
Graduation Dress Code is as follows: Black pants, black socks and shoes, white shirt, dark tie for our young men and our young ladies will wear a black dress or black slacks, and black shoes (absolutely NO FLIP FLOPS). Please keep jewelry to a minimum (only small earrings or a watch).

We have implemented the Raptor system at Sparkman High School. This new sign in system will scan your drivers license or other acceptable identification and provide the visitor with a printed badge to wear while on campus. Please make sure to have your ID ready the next time you visit. Thank you Madison County Schools for providing this service to ensure our students and staff are safe!
Prom guest forms are now available for pickup outside of Mrs. Fitch’s room (407). Forms must be submitted to the front office no later than May 3 in order to receive administrator approval.
Tryouts for SSO Step Team will be April 22 - 24 from 4 - 6 pm in the cafeteria. Anyone interested in trying out can pick up a packet from Mrs. Maxtion in room 231.
MySchool Fees - Online Payment System to pay for Fees
- Go to https://sparkmanhigh.mcssk12.org/
- Select “Resources”
- Select “MySchoolFees”
- Select “Category”
- Pick “Course” and add to Cart (Repeat as needed)
- Once all categories have been selected, hit “Checkout” button and follow instructions for payment. (Do not check use billing information to create a MySchoolFees.com account)
- Click on who will “own Public Fees” and designate if the funds are for the same recipient or several recipients
- If funds are for the same recipient, identify the recipient by typing in the recipient’s name.
- If funds are for several recipients, identify the recipient by typing in the recipient’s name for each category.
- Submit and continue.
- Follow instructions to checkout
We want to recognize Mrs Coggins who has been selected to participate in the Gilder Lerhman Story of World War II Workshop at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. Also, the SHS History Club, Great Wars class and SHS Drama will take part in the Wings Over Courtland event on April 26 and 27. It is open to the public on April 27.

The Senators Varsity Track and Field team competed Saturday at the Bob Jones Invitational at Bob Jones High School. The Girls team finished 7th of 17 teams while the Boys finished 3rd of 14 teams, placing THIRD for a combined team finish. The third place finish didn’t begin to show how great the team did, athletes earned 48 NEW PERSONAL RECORDS (PRs) during the event!
Winning GOLD medals were Adam Thomas (400m) and Adam Depew (High Jump). Taking SILVER were Raven Hall (Discus) and Jon Keiser (Javelin). BRONZE medal winners were Kaylyn Hardrick (Discus and Shot Put), Marcel White (300m Hurdles), Kyler Waters (Long Jump), Brody Wallace (Pole Vault) and Jon Keiser (Discus).
Earning points for the Girls were Janae Hilliard (4th 100m, 7th 200m), Rasia Graves (5th 100m, 4th 200m), Amanda Davis (6th 200m), Baily Wallace (8th 800m), Aiyana Seay (8th Discus) and Madison Glass (5th Javelin). Scoring points for the Boys were Dell Pettus (6th 100m), Johny Holloway (8th 100m), Adam Thomas (5th 200m), Omar Myers (4th 800m, 8th 1600m), Kyler Waters (6th 100m Hurdles), Marcel White (7th 110m Hurdles, 6th Triple Jump), James Palmer (8th Triple Jump), Jimmy Moore (5th Pole Vault), Terrant Young (7th Discus), Nick McNeal (6th Discus, 7th Javelin), Jay Zayas (8th Javelin) Michael Poe (4th Shot Put) and the 4x400m Relay Team finishing 4th.
