The weather forecast for Friday afternoon looks rainy, so we may need to cancel our outdoor parade plan for Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade. We will make a decision Friday morning and send out a communication to families of students in those grades. If we need to cancel the outdoor parade, we will livestream the parade that will take place inside the school via a Teams link so that families can view the parade virtually.

Halloween 2021 - This Friday!

On Friday, October 29, Simmons Elementary School students will be having Halloween activities and parties in their classrooms. Your child’s teacher will send home more specific information about their class activities. Please take a moment to review the information below regarding our holiday plan.

2:15 – 2:30 p.m. Preschool, Kindergarten and Grade 1 Parade on the playground

For the parade, family members are welcome to gather around the perimeter of the blacktop. Classes will exit the school from the overhang door, walk around the playground, then return to the school. Please allow extra time to park in a legal parking spot prior to the parade. If the weather is rainy on October 29th, the outdoor parade will be cancelled. An email notification will be sent to families before noon if we need to cancel the parade and a link to view the parade will be provided.

2:30 p.m. Preschool through Grade 5 classroom parties

This year, we will not utilize adult volunteers in the classrooms for parties to limit the number of people in classrooms due to the pandemic. The Home and School Association will be purchasing snacks and a Halloween game for every classroom.

If your child’s class is dressing up for Halloween, please remember that all costumes need to be appropriate for an elementary school setting. No face paint, hair dye or weapons should be brought to school as part of a costume. Thank you for helping us make this event fun and safe for everyone.

Pajama Day on Monday, Nov. 1st

Our fifth grade Student Leadership Team has planned the first spirit day of the school year! We are inviting students to wear their pajamas to school on Monday, November 1st. All p.j.s should be school appropriate and allow for students to participate in the daily school activities. After a fun evening of trick or treating on Sunday, make the start of the school week easier with Pajama Day!
