Most important organelle?
They consist of stacks of thylakoids which are called grana.
Functions of Chloroplasts
1) Contains chlorophyl which gives the plant the ability to absorb energy from the sunlight
2) The energy absorbed is used to convert water plus CO2 into sugars that serve as a food source for the plant3) Contains chlorophyl which gives the plant or algae color
The process of 1) and 2) is called photosynthesis
Absorbing energy from the sun
The sun is giving out energy, and the plant is taking in the energy and using it to convert CO2 plus water into sugar. Sugar is used as the source of food and then the plant gives off oxygen.
Plants aren't green?
The main colors they consist of are red and blue. The reason we see green is because all we see is the reflection of the colors
