Chloroplast
Most important organelle?
Location
Chloroplasts are found in plant cells and eukaryotic algae that conduct photosynthesis.
Structure
Chloroplasts are disc shaped organelles that are stacked on top of each other.
They consist of stacks of thylakoids which are called grana.
Functions of Chloroplasts
1) Contains chlorophyl which gives the plant the ability to absorb energy from the sunlight
2) The energy absorbed is used to convert water plus CO2 into sugars that serve as a food source for the plant
3) Contains chlorophyl which gives the plant or algae colorThe process of 1) and 2) is called photosynthesis
Absorbing energy from the sun
Photosynthesis process
The sun is giving out energy, and the plant is taking in the energy and using it to convert CO2 plus water into sugar. Sugar is used as the source of food and then the plant gives off oxygen.
Plants aren't green?
The main colors they consist of are red and blue. The reason we see green is because all we see is the reflection of the colors
Argument
Chloroplast is the most important organelle because it is the provider for all plants cells. It provides food for the plant, and it also provides energy for the plant. Then when people or animals consumes the plants, we get energy from the sugars that are made from photosynthesis. We need oxygen to survive and plants send out oxygen.
