Building the World We Dream About

The Building the World We Dream About class begins this Thursday, facilitated by Rev Sara, Rev Mary, Tiffany Felch, and Anne Hundley. Class is both in person and on Zoom.

Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30 November 10 - May 18. Building the World We Dream About is a Unitarian Universalist program that seeks to interrupt the workings of racism and transform how people from different racial/ethnic groups understand and relate to one another. The program creates opportunities for participants to practice dreaming our world otherwise, and then commit to new, intentional ways of being. As Unitarian Universalists, we hope developing antiracist, antioppressive, and multicultural habits and skills will lead us to build the multicultural world of beloved community we dream about.

The class has a total of 24 sessions. For those wishing to join for only certain sections of the class, we will ask that you do some “homework” to catch up on some of the earlier class sessions you missed.

Learning Right Relations Welcomes Philip Red Eagle

The Sunday Gatherings of Learning Right Relations are organized by the Learning Right Relations Action Group, a part of the OUUC Faith in Action Ministry when Indigenous leaders from Salish Sea Tribes are welcomed each month to share what they believe is important in this time for the broader community. The gatherings are held from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, with a presentation and discussion followed by a potluck at 3:00 pm.

The November 13 event hosts Philip Red Eagle. See his bio here.

How can you know when there is an action coming up for faith in action? How do we organize in response to emerging justice issues and needs? We’re forming a Faith in Action Alert List in Realm, as an opt-in group for FIA announcements. Join this group if you want to get these alerts. Look for a group called Faith in Action Alerts. If you need help joining a group or with using Realm, contact the OUUC Office.

In the Larger Community

Learn more about the following events and others here.

The Article II Study Commission is excited to share a full draft of Article II for feedback. The Study Commission's outreach team will be hosting Zoom feedback sessions in the first half of November, along with gathering feedback through a forthcoming online form for individual comments. The Study Commission will present its final draft to the Board in January for inclusion on the agenda for General Assembly 2023. It will then be the subject of mini-Assemblies before the initial vote at GA 2023. If it passes that delegate vote by a majority, it will require a 2/3 majority vote at GA 2024 to become the new Article II of the Bylaws.

You are invited to this year’s interfaith celebration of community, “Resetting Our Sacred Table.” Sunday, November 20, 2:00 pm. In-person at Temple Beth Hatfiloh and on Zoom. Learn more: Current Events - Interfaith Works (interfaith-works.org)
