2023-2024 Student Verification Forms
An email was sent out at the end of August indicating that parents could now complete student verification forms for the 2023-2024 school year. If you have not yet completed these forms please do so as soon as possible.
*Every year we are required to provide Alberta Education with a signed and dated Student Verification form for each of our students.* We also use the form to ensure all of the information we have regarding your child(ren) is correct. This year we have moved to an electronic verification form for this process. In an attempt to streamline our process, the FOIP and Technology Use forms have been incorporated into the Verification form.
To access and complete this form you will need to log into the PowerSchool parent portal via your Web browser (Google Chrome for example. You will not be able to complete this process on the App). Click on the SchoolEngage icon on the left. You will be redirected to the SchoolEngage site where you can select your child’s name. Click on the 2022-2023 Student Verification Form and then on the blue icon in the first column to review the information. Once you’ve completed your verification, click on the green submit button on the bottom of the page.
PowerSchool Parent Portal
On our PowerSchool Parent Portal you will have access to real-time assessment regarding your child's learning. Breakfast Program
Breakfast is now being served every morning in the front foyer for all K-12 students. Town students are able to come and eat when the doors open at 8:30. Bus students come down after announcements and take their food back to class with them. Thanks to some amazing volunteers, items such as toast, cereal, fruit, cheese, yogurt parfaits and waffles are being served to start.
A huge thank you to Mission To Many (M2M) for their extremely generous donation of $1000.00 to the Breakfast Program!

excited to hear and see the magic that is a Forestburg School Christmas Concert. We have so
many talented students in our classes and our band groups. The doors will not be open until

Caught you Soaring!
Every week staff are given "Caught you Soaring" cards to hand out to students who have been caught SOARING during the week. This could include helping a staff member, volunteering, being kind or helping a friend or classmate. Students are given the cards to enter into a draw at the end of each week for a prize from our school concession. Our first week winners were Charlise Stewart and Bennett Jackson. Our second week winners were Ethan Neufeld and River Boudreau.
Here is a picture of Bennett with his prize!

November has been an exciting month for Forestburg sports, Volleyball has ended and
basketball has kicked off. This year we have junior boys and girls teams as well as senior high
boys and girls. This year we also Mini dunkers again! The senior boys and girls have their first
exhibition game on Tuesday, November 28th against Sedgwick (CCHS) to shoot off the season.
We have hope for all our Forestburg basketball teams this year, good luck! We hope to see
parents, friends and community members at future games and to support our teams. We would
also like to thank the Forestburg Curling Club staff and organizers for allowing our students to
come down and curl, we have been having a blast.
Jr. High Boys Volleyball Wrap Up
The Junior High Boys volleyball team had a very successful season. They played tournaments in Bawlf (placing second), Forestburg (placing first), and Stettler (placing third). They won the league and hosted the Divisional tournament. Placing third there they went on to Regionals in Camrose where they came up just short of the medal round. The team would like to thank all of the parents who supported us throughout the season as drivers, janitors, and fans. We truly appreciated the referees and scoring officials that made our games and tournaments run smoothly. A special thanks also goes out to the staff that helped us to set up for games and tournaments, and most especially those involved in helping us to set up and run concessions for our tournaments. Without you all, the task of running a volleyball team would be impossible. Thank you to all our volunteers! You are what makes our community so great!!

Jr. High Skills Exploration Day
The Jr. High Students are participating in Skills Exploration Days! It is a one-day virtual event held on December 5th.
The purpose of Skills Exploration Days is to:
- Inspire Junior High students to identify inherent skills and interests.
- Connect students’ skills and interests to trade and technology careers through interactive, hands-on experiences that promote creativity, empathy, and exploration.
- Promote trade and technology careers as a valuable and rewarding career choice.
Building on the Maker Day model and Alberta Education’s Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) Program of Studies, students will be introduced to skilled trade and technology careers as they design, tinker and build! We were provided with toolboxes that included the tools and materials students will need to participate in Skills Exploration Days. Learn-A-Skill Kits are included to help students familiarize themselves with the tools and materials available for building their prototype. The items in the toolkits remain in the school for us to continue to use in our CTF and CTS courses.

Junior High Agriculture
Mrs. Pfeffer's Agriculture CTF class enjoyed a field trip to the Zimmer Holstein Dairy Barn last month. This barn is a modern robotic barn that uses many types of computer technology to help control daily operations. The students learned how technology makes the barn more efficient, with the cow comfort and proper nutrition in mind. Thank-you Victoria Zimmer for the tour and to Cheryl Wiltse and Dez Strauss for driving us there! This month, the students were each gifted their own copy of "Traversing Terrain and Experience: Atlas of the Battle River and Sounding Creek Watersheds." Thank-you to the Battle River Watershed Alliance for the donation. The students are currently learning about land use and sustainability.

The grade 4 students have been learning all about palaeontology during literacy support. The kids have been very excited about the lessons and are doing a great job of showcasing their knowledge.
Mini Slammers
The Mini Slammers had a great season where we learned a lot and gained a lot of skill and experience. Our season was capped off with a tournament in Bawlf Nov 9th where we went undefeated!
Thank you to the players, parent drivers, to Abrahm Bartlett for helping coach and to Noah Kells for helping at practices. See you for Mini Dunkers starting in January!
From the Grade 3 room...
The grade 3 students have been working well on literacy and numeracy skills. In the past few weeks they have used math manipulatives, that we called our dinosaur eggs, to work on addition. They are also learning how to showcase their written knowledge by describing areas in the school.
