COVID vaccination update
On December 9, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded the use of updated (bivalent) COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 6 months through 5 years. Now virtually all children across the Commonwealth are eligible to get the updated vaccine.
The Department of Public Health and the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics remind you to have your child vaccinated, especially in advance of upcoming holidays. The COVID-19 vaccine has been shown to be safe and effective in protecting against serious illness, hospitalization, and death.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is also alerting residents that flu activity is much higher than usual for this time of year – in the Commonwealth and nationally – and urging residents of all ages to also get vaccinated against influenza. DPH and AAP remind you that COVID and flu shots may be given in the same visit.
While families may feel most comfortable getting their youngest children vaccinated by their primary care provider, please note that some retail pharmacies are also able to vaccinate children ages 3 and older. More information is available at www.mass.gov/CovidVaccineyoungkids.
As a reminder: the COVID vaccine is safe, free for all, and no ID or insurance is needed to be vaccinated.
Getting your family vaccinated against COVID and flu is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones. We appreciate your help to keep our communities safe and healthy.

Athletics News
Happy New Year sports fans! While it may not look like winter when you peak out the window, it’s only a matter of time before all of our athletes will be in action! However, while we wait for the white stuff to fall, our indoor athletes will be holding down the fort!
Our Middle School girls basketball team remained undefeated this week with a VERY convincing victory over Great Falls Middle School by a score of 39-9! The Lady Warriors were led by Valerie Bzomowski (12 points) and Natalie Lanoue (10 points). All of our players saw plenty of action, and they look to remain unbeaten next week when they travel to Mahar Regional on Tuesday.
Over winter break, our Nordic Skiers were able to sneak in their first race of the year by heading north to Prospect Mountain in Vermont. Our boys team was led by Vincent Gauthier and Augustus Niswonger who placed 16th and 20th respectively in the varsity race. On the girls side, 7th grader Charlotte Niswonger led the Lady Warriors with an outstanding 5th place finish in the junior varsity race.
Our Wrestling team continues to string together some very strong individual performances as veterans Will VanVleet and Logan Moore picked up victories this past week against a very strong Pathfinder squad, and newcomer Landon Purington continues to shine on the mat picking up multiple victories in his 113 pound weight class. Our grapplers look to improve and perform when they travel to Smith Vocational School in Northampton this Saturday!
Keep your eyes peeled next week for skiing updates as our Alpine racers begin their race season at Berkshire East on Tuesday, January 10th! Our girls team looks to defend their STATE CHAMPIONSHIP this season with the majority of their skiers back, while the boys aim to continue their stranglehold on the top of their league!
Please remember! For updated information on team schedules, please visit Arbiterlive.com! Come out and support your Mohawk Warriors and cross your fingers for snow!
