Treaty Of Waitangi
Problems that have arised
One of the many problems that arised
One of the problems that arised during the signing of the treaty was the translation of the words written on the treaty. The Maori version does not accurately match any o the English versions. The missionaries who translated the treaty into Maori language used missionaries Maori than traditional words. The words did not have the same meanings.
The problem with the signatures
There were 52 signatures on the Maori version of the treaty and there were only 30 signatures on the English version.
