WST Esthetics Program Learns about organelles

This week, WST Esthetics students finished their makeup chapter and are now reviewing disorders and diseases. To further support the learning, students have a two part project, (1) paint an organelle, and (2) use their color theory knowledge from their makeup chapter to create the color shading of the organelle.

To complete the painting students, needed to use their knowledge of color theory to become familiar with the organelle. An organelle is a specialized structure that performs various jobs inside cells, the term literally means, 'little organ'. An organelle functions the same way as the heart, liver, stomach, and kidneys, serving specific functions to keep a cell alive.

No only did they learn about the 'little organ' as they had to paint and learn the systems of the organelle, they also used their color theory knowledge from the makeup unit to paint the system using only red, yellow, and blue with white and black paint for tint and shade.
