Wellness and Safety Reminders
✷If a household member is/has gotten tested for COVID-19, DO NOT send any other household members to school until you receive NEGATIVE test results. For example, if big brother was tested for COVID-19 on Sunday and little brother feels fine, do not send little brother to school on Monday. Big brother can return after a negative COVID test result and no more symptoms. Little brother can return after big brother has negative COVID test result.
✷Students with the following symptoms may have COVID-19 and cannot attend school. You should report the absence and symptoms to school:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Euclid Virtual Open House - check email for link!
Teachers will share with homeroom families a link to join a Google Meet virtual meeting. Families will view an all school introduction from administration and all of our amazing Essentials and Support staff, then learn about the learning and growing experiences in each child's homeroom.
5:00 - 5:30p Acceleration, Challenge, Enrichment (ACE) Program Session
5:30 - 6:00p Session 16:00 - 6:30p Session 2 (repeat of 1)
Look for communication from your child's homeroom teacher for the Google Meet Link.
Google Meet Links for your homeroom teacher will also be sent directly to your emails. There will be a separate email sent for each child enrolled at Euclid.
Shield Saliva Testing- Begins Friday, 8/25
Students will be supported by their homeroom teacher and other support staff as they go to the testing location (an open hallway corridor) together as a class. Students will remain 6+ feet apart while their masks are lowered. Students will also carry a notecard we've prepared with their full name and birthday to help communicate with the health care workers.
We are approaching this first week (maybe the next 2) as a practice experience. Spitting in a tube can be harder than you think! However, with some practice, patience, and a bit of humor we'll be okay and be able to use this as another mitigation strategy to keep our children safe.
Remember, you will only be contacted about your child's test results if the results are positive. NO news is GOOD news.
Please support your child with a positive outlook about the experience, build an understanding of what they will do, and help them to know this is a way to help the grown-ups do an even better job keeping the children safe.

Euclid Practices Crisis Safety Drills Next Week
In the morning we will practice three drills:
- Evacuation - also known as a fire drill; we exit the building and meet outside in a specific area in our homerooms.
- Shelter-in-Place - also known as a tornado drill. We gather in stable places throughout the building away from windows and doors as best as possible.
- Hard Lockdown - students and staff may hide from possible danger inside the building. A lockdown drill will NEVER be unannounced. Staff and parents will always know if there will be a lockdown drill.
In the afternoon, the Mt. Prospect Police and Fire Departments will be with us at Euclid to observe and support a second Evacuation Drill and Hard Lockdown Drill. All of the drills being practiced and observed are required by the Illinois State Board of Education.
If you have questions or would like to discuss your child's participation in any of the above mentioned drills, please contact the principal, Karen Daly. kdaly@rtsd26.org or 224-612-7400
Concurrent Learning Qualifications
Concurrent Learning:
Any student who tests positive for Covid-19 or is exposed to COVID-19 and awaiting test results is eligible for virtual learning. However, this will be slightly different from the virtual learning arrangement that was in place last year. It will be an opportunity for the student to
- observe and follow along with in-classroom lessons
- stay connected with school by listening in and observing
- minimal interactions with the teacher during class
Teachers will post that the day’s lessons and learning activities in Schoology or Seesaw (depending on grade level) and/or communicate that learning materials will be available at school for pick-up. The student will then be able to see and hear that day’s lesson through Google Meet.
If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact your school principal or the district office.
