Year 3 Penance Retreat
This week Year 3 was treated to a full day’s retreat in the tech room where the 24/7 School Ministry facilitators guided us through the Sacrament of Reconciliation preparation. We played games and watched videos introducing Contrition, Confession, Penance and Absolution. We shared a lovely morning tea together, then we learnt about forgiveness and how God forgives us our sins if we ask for forgiveness. After lunch we watched a skit depicting the prodigal son. We are all looking forward to receiving our Sacrament on the 16th of August in the undercover area.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Over the next two week's our behaviour focus as a whole school, is 'showing respect'. We ask that you support us by noticing when your child shows respect at home. You could for example say "I really appreciate how you listened to my request that you have a shower before dinner, I felt respected when you listened to me" or "I noticed how you waited your turn with great patience during the board game you were playing with your friends. You were showed great respect with your attitude of patience.". When your children listen to your instructions, say kind things, wait their turn, use good manners and include others in actiities, they are showing respect.
This week several staff are attending professional development in Strength Based Wellbeing practices. It is our intention to learn and investigate more about wellbeing so that in future we can introduce practices into our school that nurture the wellness of both students and staff.
We ask that you keep our Year 3 Reconcilation students in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to receive this Sacrament for the very fist time in a couple of weeks. We thank their teachers, Mrs Henery, Mr Rafferty and our Year 3 Education Assistant Mrs Ivanovski for the preparing the children to recieve this Sacrament.
Dear Lord
As our Year 3 children prepare to receive the Sacrament of Penance, we are reminded of your unending and unfailing love for us. We take comfort knowing that every time we fail, we can be forgiven and reconciled with You. We ask Lord that you strengthen in us the willingness to forgive others, just as you have forgiven us.
We ask these things through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen
Ondine Komnick
Principal
