We currently have a paraeducator position available at TCE. If you are interested in this role or in being a part of our classified or teacher substitute pools, please visit the District website for employment opportunities. We would love to have you as a part of our team!
No School Friday
Health & Safety Reminders
Our students and staff are doing a great job of following health and safety protocols. Students are working hard to maintain proper masking and distancing, while resuming some of the best routines of school like partner talk and using manipulatives.
While on school grounds, we ask that you please wear a mask as well. This includes our car pick up area while waiting for your child. In order to tighten up security, we ask that you line up outside the gym door and check in with a staff member to receive your child.
We have electronic door locks on the exterior doors that remain locked during school hours. If you need to pick up your child, please make sure you sign them out through the office. You may call and talk with staff or buzz the front door for assistance.
During drop off and pick up, please make sure you remain in your car. As much as possible, we request that you load and unload your child on the passenger side. We can assist with opening/closing doors for your child.
Our neighbor businesses at the Kohles Professional Center and Heritage Bank do not allow parking in their lots for drop off or pick up. If you wish to park and walk onto campus, please park in the Taco Time or Haggens lots where more space is available. Starting this week violators will be reported and/or towed.
Conferences
On October 27, 28 and 29 students will have school from 9:00-12:00 and early release for conferences. There will be no late start on Wednesday, October 27. School will begin at 9:00 rather than 10:20. Only breakfast will be served on October 27, 28 and 29, so please plan for lunch at home.
Read-A-Thon Celebrations
Congratulations to Olivia Bellew (Kindergarten, Richards) for being our Top Earner. She took home a new Kindle Fire tablet. The Top Earning Class was Mrs. Richards and they will enjoy a special recess event next week.
Each grade level had first and second place winners who received Tiger stuffed toys and books. Congratulations to the following students:
- Kindergarten: Bryce Schmitt, Lola McCrite
- First Grade: Maria & Soren Vogel, Crosbie Harrington
- Second Grade: Bella Townsend, Fjeran Harriss
- Third Grade: Otto Vogel, Camden Tatarian
- Fourth Grade: Brantley Baxter, Kailey Ritala
- Fifth Grade: Wyatt Lachausse, Has Wiederhold
Smarter Balanced Assessment
Fourth and fifth graders will take the ELA assessment on Tuesday, October 19 and the Math assessment on Thursday, October 21. Testing should last approximately 60-75 minutes and will be administered on the computer.
On testing days, please help to prepare your child by making sure they are rested and have eaten breakfast. Encourage them to do their best.
Counselor Corner
Empathy, like all of our character traits, grows with intentional practice. Take time at dinner, on a car ride, or a family walk to talk about feelings. Knowing how to identify our own emotions helps us to better understand the emotions of others. Empathy is a main pillar of friendships and healthy relationships. When we can put ourselves in another person’s shoes we can better extend grace, kindness, and love to each other.
We are here to meet with students and parents/guardians. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. My email is jscwharze@stanwood.wednet.edu.
