Classroom Notes
ELA
This week, ELA has been working hard to learn what it takes to make good inferences. Students have also enjoyed planning a vacation through our Ultimate Adventure Project. NWEA testing for language is on Monday, and we’ll dig deeper into inferencing and drawing conclusions.

This week we will continue Unit 1: Scale Drawings with a focus on scale drawings and maps. Please view our Family Materials for lessons 1-6 and our Family Materials for lessons 7-13 to review important vocabulary and see sample problems that you can do with your student at home.
Power Standard for Unit 1:
7.GM.A.1 - Solve problems involving scale drawings of real objects and geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing the drawing at a different scale.

Week at a Glance:
This week, we will begin to look at microorganisms under the microscope! We will learn the different parts of a microscope as well as how to use it properly to get a focused image! We will also take our science NWEA test.
I can properly use a microscope to identify if the slide I'm looking at is made of prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells.

Social Studies
Week at a Glance:
This week students finished their Native American notes and are ready to start their research project. Student projects will be presented to the class in a “Native American Museum”. The work they do will become an “exhibit” in our classroom museum. Students will create 2D or 3D example of their learning.
Learning Target for the Week:
- Examine different Native American cultures and explain several ways they used their natural resources to adapt to their environment.
Power Standards for the Quarter: Explain how Native Americans adapted to their environment.
