A PUBLICATION OF CHRIST CHURCH, EXETER NH

Planning Ahead to Take Care of Yourself, Your Family, and Your Church

Forum on Sunday, November 17 at 8:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Young, old, and in-between, this forum is for everyone!

“But about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Beware, keep alert; for you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his slaves in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch. Therefore, keep awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or at dawn, or else he may find you asleep when he comes suddenly. And what I say to you I say to all: Keep awake.” Mark 13:32-37

Wills, trusts, and planned giving: Everyone needs something in place, whether your assets are few or many.

Do you have a will in place, or maybe a trust? If you have a trust, have you “funded” it? Do you know how you want your assets to be distributed after you die? Do you know who will be managing your estate for you, and more importantly, do they know they will be serving in this role? Finally, have you thought about benefitting Christ Church in your estate plan? In this session, Sarah Ambrogi will go over the basics of wills and trusts, what issues to consider, and how to go about setting them up.

As time allows, Sarah can address the area of Advanced Directives.

Sarah S. Ambrogi, Esq. founded Ambrogi Law Office in Manchester in 2011, a law practice focused on trusts, estates, and elder law. Before starting her own firm, Sarah spent many years as a principal with the Curtin Law Office PLLC, a Manchester firm with a similar practice focus.

She is currently serving as president of the NH Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), chair of Manchester Regional Board of Advisors for the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and a member of the board of the NH Estate Planning Council.

Sarah and her husband Benge (who is on staff at the Diocese) live in Manchester and have three grown children. They love spending time outdoors in New Hampshire and are avid tandem bicyclists. Sarah has represented the Diocese of New Hampshire at the General Convention.

INTRODUCING THE ANCHOR LEGACY SOCIETY

On Sunday, Nov. 3rd, as part of All Saints’ Sunday, we acknowledge those faithful departed who remembered Christ Church through bequests going back to 1879 to our most recent gift in 2017. Over the next year, we will add the names of the living who have remembered the church through a planned gift.

On All Saints’ Sunday 2020 we will announce and celebrate new and current members.

CHRIST CHURCH’S THANKSGIVING/CHRISTMAS OUTREACH

Traditionally the Christ Church parishioners can make Thanksgiving & Christmas baskets for families in need. This year, there are 40 families hoping for assistance during the holidays. These are our neighbors in the Exeter area who would not have a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and/or presents for their families without our support. Any interested household chooses a family's plate and provides all the necessary ingredients, which includes an appropriately sized turkey for that family to make their own dinner. A set of instructions goes along with the plate giving suggestions about what to include.

On Sunday, November 10th, Thanksgiving plates will be set up in the Parish Hall. Each plate will indicate the number of family members. Our church members are invited to choose a plate and purchase enough items needed for Thanksgiving dinner. The food is put together in a basket or box so that the recipients will have all they need. Baskets should be brought to the parish hall on Saturday, November 23rd between 8-8:45 AM. Volunteers are needed that Saturday between 8:30-10:30 AM to help sort and carry baskets for those families coming to pick them up.

Look for plates for Christmas Baskets and the Giving Tree on Sunday, November 24th. Plates will be on the windows in the Parish Hall and the Giving Tree will be up. A set of instructions comes with each ornament.

**Note:

  • Christmas Gifts from the Giving Tree are dues back to the church by Sunday, December 15th.
  • Christmas Food Baskets are due back on Saturday, December 21st between 8:15-8:45 AM.

This year we are also looking for volunteers to help with drop off & distribution on Saturday, Dec. 21st from 8:00 -10:30 AM.

Please email Carla Ranks you are interested in helping with drop off & distribution.

This ministry helps so many children and families and our community is made brighter by the continued generosity that is shown by members of Christ Church.

Pine Street Players at Christ Church

After two successful weekends of shows and record ticket sales, Pine Street Players at Christ Church will be returning December 6 & 7 to hold auditions for this year’s winter show: Romeo and Juliet.

Under Lexi Meunier’s direction, actors will explore the Shakespeare classic—with a twist! To make Shakespeare’s work more accessible to young actors, PSP’s production will be set in a modern-day high school.

Christ Church Choir

As winter approaches, the urge to hide inside our warm homes can begin taking over. Sometimes this “hibernation” period means we don’t get to connect as often with our community.

If you’re looking for fellowship and an artistic outlet during the cold season, consider joining the Christ Church Choir for Advent and Christmas Eve. The choir will sing November 3rd, 17th, 24th, and December 8th, 15th, and 22nd at the 10:00 service. The choir will also sing at Christmas Eve services, with a special presentation of music before the 8:00 pm service. Email moneill@christchurchexeter.org if you’re interested.

You can call Darla in the church office or email her to add your name to the enews list as well. (dwatt@christchurchexeter.org)

Weekly Church Bulletins- Look at the last few pages of the bulletin and you will see announcements of many things going on at the church.

Anchor- Our bi-monthly newsletter. It is primarily articles written by the staff etc. and less about events. Sent out through Constant Contact at the beginning of the designated month. (see above to get on the list for this as well) In order to be more environmentally friendly, this is mainly an online newsletter.
