New Inappropriate Tik Tok Challenge
The district is aware of the rumored Tik Tok Challenge for October, which calls for students to inappropriately touch a staff member. We want to remind all parents and students that this type of behavior will not be tolerated, consequences will be issued, and students may face criminal assault charges. Over the past several weeks the district has investigated thefts and destruction of property by students influenced by a Tik Tok Challenge, resulting in discipline and consequences from police. Please encourage your students to do the right thing, make good choices, and report anything that seems concerning- “see something, say something.” Positive influences and accountability are important, #SD308BetterTogether.

COVID-19
- Metrics & Reporting - Weekly metrics of positive and excluded students and staff are reported online at www.sd308.org/metrics. Metrics are now available to view by building.
- Any positive case of COVID-19 or close contact with a person positive for COVID-19 should be reported to the district as soon as possible. You can find the reporting link on the district homepage, or by visiting www.sd308.org/reporting.
- Symptomatic students should be kept home, and their symptoms reported to the attendance line at their school. All persons experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should be tested or evaluated by a medical provider, if not tested or released by a medical provider, they must stay home for 10 days.
- Masks - Required for ALL Persons: Per the Governor’s Executive Order 2021-18, masks are required on all persons inside school buildings and on all buses per the CDC Transportation Order. Universal masking per the order, as endorsed by the CDC, IDPH, and ISBE has been included in SD 308 Board Policy 7:165. Persons without proper use of a facemask will not be permitted to enter a school building or bus.
Kendall County Community Mental Health Needs Assessment
- The Kendall County 708 Mental Health Board is conducting a Community Mental Health Needs Assessment to better understand the concerns and mental health needs of Kendall County residents. The 708 Community Mental Health Board of Kendall County exists to ensure that all residents of the county have equal access to a high quality comprehensive mental health care delivery system. The need for a comprehensive mental health system has been amplified over the last year due to the pandemic. This time of our lives has provided an unprecedented opportunity to take care of each other like we never have before, which starts with listening and understanding. By completing this anonymous survey, you are supporting your community and helping us better understand the needs in Kendall County at a household and individual level. Your perspective will help us identify the most critical areas of need and drive decisions as we strategically allocate funding through the Kendall County 708 Mental Health levy. Your support is appreciated. 708 Community Mental Health Needs Assessment survey link.
Public Hearing - October 12th BOE Meeting
- A public hearing will be held on October 12 at the Oswego East Community Room at 7:15 p.m. SD308 is creating a learning plan for possible use during inclement weather or sudden school closings. This plan could be used in lieu of the five emergency days currently at the end of the school year. If approved by the Regional Office of Education, the district could use this plan for the next three years. The plan has students in grades 6-12 using their district chromebooks to participate in all of their classes for a regular school day remotely. For early learning and elementary students, activities and homework will be sent home in advance with teachers available for phone calls, emails, and interaction through google meet if needed. Live instruction for elementary will not be possible because not all students have access to a device. It is important to note that even with an approved emergency learning plan, the district will still need to make a choice of whether to close school for a "snow day" or utilize the emergency learning plans. The approval of this plan would just provide the district with more options.
