Friday Family Message
Hello Families
Summer is on the horizon! Warmer weather, longer days, and greener grass all signal that we are nearing the end of the school year.
As a district, we often talk about safety being our highest priority. The summer months are no exception. The school district partners with local municipalities to ensure our families and local citizens are safe and aware when there are specific safety concerns or updates.
We have been made aware that car prowls are on the rise in the area. Everyone is encouraged to ensure their vehicles are locked and secure, even on hot days.
The YMCA is offering their free Safety Around Water swimming program June 19-29. There are classes for various ages to learn how to be safe in and around water. Register at ymca-snoco.org/swim.
We also encourage families to talk with their students about being safe, courteous, and aware after school — especially in the busy area around McDonalds, Haggen, and the YMCA.
All schools are actively planning for the 2023-2024 school year!
Each school staff is engaged in a series of reflective activities aimed at determining what our academic goals are for students and the instructional efforts staff will focus on next school year.
These plans — referred to as “Annual Action Plans” — guide the work we do at the school level and ensure we are also meeting the community goals outlined in our District Strategic Plan.
The work helps us keep our district promise: Every student is empowered to learn in an inclusive setting and is prepared for the future of their choice.
New elementary school next year? Let's visit the school!
Help us spread the word! Each elementary school is hosting a fun-filled open house from 5-6 p.m. June 12 for students and families who will be new to their school this fall.
You can explore their building, meet the staff, and register for kindergarten in-person. Students can also get their photo taken with their school mascot!
Or you can register your student at any time at www.stanwood.wednet.edu/welcome.
Tour the world at Culture Night
Stanwood High School is hosting a Culture Night from 6-7:30 p.m. May 23 in the SHS Commons.
This joyous event is jam-packed with colorful dances, significant songs, hands-on demonstrations, informative presentations, and tasty food samples representing various cultures.
The fourth annual event, organized by the school’s Spanish and German Clubs, is free and open to everyone in the community!
But wait! There’s more …
Culture Night is one of many events on the calendar as the school year comes to a close. See more fun community events on our website.
Can’t make it to some of these wonderful events in-person? That’s OK. Many are streamed online! See how to watch the events on our streaming website.
