Defenders - Defining Excellence Everyday
January 29, 2023
Notes from our Principal
Hello Driscoll community,
As the month of January is drawing to an end and we begin February, we continue to see changes in our Texas weather. Please be sure to take good care of yourself and your family members to stay well. Thank you for ensuring students are not bringing blankets to school. If warm clothing is needed, please see our family specialist for some assistance.
Tuesday, January 31, is our early release day this month. School gets out on Tuesday at 1:25pm. Please plan accordingly.
Remember, Skyward remains open for course selections. Please be sure to work with your student to make the appropriate selections for courses to take next year. These selections help us in creating the master schedule and provide appropriate hiring/placement of staff for next year. Students have until February 17 to make their selections.
Please review the many details included below. If you have specific questions, please reach out so we can assist with those items. Please continue to stay safe.

Driscoll Middle School Principal

Connected Classroom, Chromebook lending program coming very soon
Our District is excited to announce the Connected Classroom, a new Chromebook lending program that enables students in 3rd-12th grades to have a designated Chromebook for usage both at school and at home. Through this initiative we can ensure that our students have access to the tools they need to further their education and thrive in the digital age. Chromebooks are the ideal tool for students to complete assignments, research projects, and collaborate with peers because they are portable, durable, and simple to use. These Chromebooks are governed by the NEISD Internet content filter when connected to any wireless network, which helps to protect students from inappropriate content, while providing access to a range of instructional resources and apps that enhance learning.
If you are interested in acquiring a device for your student(s), a Student Device Lending Agreement must be submitted, and $25 District-issued device insurance must be purchased for each device. The Student Device Insurance item will be populated into campus School Cash Online portals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30th. Parents with an existing School Cash Online account will receive an email notification letting them know that a new item is ready for their purchase. Additionally, the Technology Lending Agreement will be visible in Skyward parent accounts for their 3rd-12th grade students starting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30th.
An additional communication letter will be sent on Monday, January 30, with more details about the Connected Classroom Chromebook process of distribution.

Join us for the Parent Lunch & Learn February 9, 2023 in the MPR
To work collaboratively to ensure success, we need knowledge and insight into people's needs. What do they have and what strategy can I use with them to help them? Do they need safety or connection? What is driving the behavior?
This workshop will help educators, parents/caregivers, and any individual who wants to better understand the behaviors of humans, especially those impacted by trauma.
