Welcome Back
Welcome to the new school year! We are off to a fantastic start at Washington Elementary. We look forward to working with you throughout the school year!
Watch Dog Dads Program
Attention all dads! Once again this year there has been interest in continuing with the Watch Dog Dads Program. If you are interested in participating, please contact Jared Ladbury. He will get you started in the right direction! This has been a great way for our dads to show their support and involvement in the education of our students at Washington. It is a great opportunity to spend a day at school and learn about our school family and each day is special to our kids.
Planning Lunch With Your Child
If you are planning lunch with your child, please call the office at 701-446-5400 by 9:00 am, so we can have a meal available for you. Thank you in advance for calling before 9:00 am to place your order.
Absences and Tardy
Parents, please call the school if your child is going to be absent or late for classes. This saves us time, as we must account for each child each morning. If you are picking up your child for an appointment throughout the day, please come to the office to sign your child out and remember to sign them back in when they return. There is short term parking in front of the school. Our attendance number is 701-446-5406.
Homework Room
Homework room will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd and is available after school for grades four and five. The time is from 3:05 - 4:00 pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in room 52.
V.I.P (Very Important Papers)
In the past every family was issued a Wednesday Folder that was sent home with the youngest student in the family. This folder contained information from the PTA, district information, upcoming opportunities for activities, etc.
This year your family will continue to receive these papers, but without the folder. The youngest student in your family will still receive them on Wednesdays. Please be on the lookout for these papers and any papers that need to be returned should be sent back in your child's classroom communication folder.
School Pictures
We are pleased to announce that this year's school pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 26th. Pictures will begin at 8:00 am with staff and pre-school. Once again Scherling Photography has been contracted to provide this service for our families. More information will be sent home with your student.
Student Drop-Off
While accessing the front door on Broadway be sure to drop your child off on the east side of the street. This will keep your child safe from traffic. Like wise, when loading and unloading, please remind your child to enter and exit your vehicle from the curb side to avoid traffic.
We are asking to keep our classroom hallways clear. This keeps our students and staff safe as we continue our important work to foster independence. Independence starts with allowing students to walk to their classroom and put their items away on their own. If you do come into school, please drop your students off in the hallway by the main office. Encourage this. It reinforces their independence and shows you believe they can do it.
As you need to visit with teacher, please call or email them to set up a time to meet. At 8:30, a teacher's day begins with students. At this time, all attention is spent greeting each student and working to ensure a positive start of the day. Thank you in advance for respecting this critical effort.
During arrival and dismissal your patience and cooperation are needed to keep everyone safe. These are busy times that require extra vigilance and care. Please think safety first.
School Access Doors
For security reasons all doors entering Washington School are locked. Visitors will buzz in to enter through our secure doors, sign in and receive a Visitor Badge. This Badge must be visible throughout your visit.
Parents picking up children are asked to wait in the front foyer by the office until the conclusion of the school day. Following dismissal, all doors will be locked. This will include the main entrance. Parents wishing access after hours must buzz in at the main entrance. If you have
