Classroom Environment Look For:
As you enter your room on Monday, look and inventory the following items:
- Is recent scholar work hanging?
- Is my Focus Board updated daily?
- Are my norms posted visibly?
Instructional Look For:
Building Momentum & Engaging Hooks: When beginning a lesson, build the excitement for the upcoming work through an engaging hook that speaks relevantly to scholars or through your tone.
Culture Look For:
Classroom Norms Posted: All classroom should have norms posted and written in positive language. Ensure yours are visible to scholars during instruction. This can be a powerful tool for redirecting scholars.

Anti-bullying Month Action Item
We want to thank all staff for your honest reflection and engagement in last week's Anti-bullying Professional Development. We are committed to telling our story to parents and families. We don't want to just want until bullying issues arise to tell parents how we are going to address them. We should be constantly sharing the good work that we are doing around socio-emotional learning in our restorative circles and morning meetings. In this week's Wednesday Communication, we will be sharing our anti-bullying highlights with parents and families. Please send pictures/descriptions of your anti-bullying projects to Principal Tyler by Ms. Leggett, end of day.
REMINDERS
- Fall Hallway/Classroom Refresh: We are now in October and it is imperative that our classroom hallways/bulletin boards be updated. DEADLINE: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26th!
- NHS is still looking for faculty council members for both elementary and junior honor societies
- Don't forget to send pictures of your anti-bullying challenges, scavenger hunts and music videos to Ms. Leggett
- Teacher input is essential to scholar growth, please make sure you are returning it by the due date.
Procedure for Calling Out
Time Off Requests
- All employees are required to submit a request for leave no less than one (1) week prior to the date requested. For 12-month employees, vacation requests of one week or more should be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
- All requests for leave require final approval from the CEO. All employees must wait to receive approval prior to finalizing any plans. The School will not be responsible for any monetary losses that an employee may incur as a result of an employee’s request not being approved.
Unscheduled Absence/Calling out Sick
- All employees are required to call out by no later than 6am. Employees are required to text the principal and your academy leader/department head.
Returning to Work After an Unscheduled Absence
- After calling out sick, all employees are required to log-in to their Time-Off Manager account and submit the day or days absent. If an employee has been out sick for three (3) days or more, a doctor’s note must be submitted to the School Operations Manager.
