We're gearing up for National School Choice Week, a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort celebrating educational opportunity.

LITERACY DAY & VOCABULARY PARADE

Dear Families:


On Thursday, January 26th we will be holding our annual Literacy Day filled with many hands-on activities to celebrate the joy of reading. At the conclusion of the day, we will hold our Vocabulary Parade!


Students are asked to select a word and turn it into a costume. Costumes will be worn to school and students will proudly show their creativity as they walk in the parade. See below for sample costume ideas.


Our goal is to create a culture where word study is creative, interactive, memorable, and fun! We believe the Vocabulary Parade is one way to help accomplish this goal.


Thank you in advance for helping us turn vocabulary building into a Parade of Words. Please see your teacher’s classroom pages for pictures of this fun event.


The internet is also a great resource for costume ideas. Google and Pinterest can provide you with inspiration.
