Principal's Update
From Dr. Duffy, James Monroe High School
Update for October 23, 2020
Return to School
This afternoon we mailed letters to students who will be returning to school in November on a limited basis. Please be sure to reach out to us if you have any questions once you received those letters.
Attendance
I want to thank everyone for following the attendance protocols we established in the second week of school, that is, email or call your homeroom teacher to confirm your attendance status for the day.
Grades
Principal Advisory Committees
I want to remind everyone that I am still looking for interested parents and students to participate in our Parent Advisory Committee or Student Advisory Committee. These meetings will be held through virtual meeting platforms. I am very interested in hearing from a wide range of stakeholders as we strive to provide the best educational program at James Monroe High School. Please call or email me for additional information.
School Portraits
Senior portrait makeup day will be held on November 9 (Monday) from 12:00 until 8:00 PM. Seniors should receive a postcard with their appointment time in the mail. Underclassman picture days are scheduled for November 9, 10, and 12.
Jostens
Seniors: Jostens continues to take orders for caps and gowns and official Senior class items. Students can place orders at www.jostens.com/contact or by calling 1-800-Jostens. Jostens would like to have orders for graduation regalia by the end of November so manufacturing can begin. Orders can be placed by phone and no money is required at that time. All orders must be paid for before delivery.
Juniors: Jostens has scheduled a Zoom Parent Meeting for Juniors/Junior parents to call in to ask question regarding class jewelry. This will allow students and their parents to get clear answers to their questions. These calls will be held weekly on Tuesdays in October from 5:45 PM-6:15 PM. See the email from Dr. Duffy for more information.
Conclusion
Well, that’s it for now, JM. Please continue to do what you can to stop the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distancing, and washing your hands frequently. Take care—we’ll see you soon.
