Dear Parents and Families,
This week I would like to highlight the work being done at Midland by Anita Blaisdell, our Social Emotional Learning teacher. You may have seen her article in each newsletter (below), but did you know that your child's Canvas class for Skills for Success is filled with resources? Mrs. Blaisdell works tirelessly to provide videos, lessons, and ideas for students to learn and grow in knowledge of themselves. She teaches about self-regulation, communication, gratitude, and this month she is teaching about giving. I encourage you, as parents, to engage with this module together with your child. The lessons are about how to give moments of time. Gifts do not need to be about more stuff. The most precious gifts we have are our relationships and time with loved ones. I encourage you to read her article below and this week, check out Mrs. Blaisdell's class with your student. Then, perhaps over the break, check out her previous modules, too. You'll be glad you did!
It's great to be a MUSTANG!
~Mrs. Dawson

Social Emotional Learning Corner by Mrs. Blaisdell
This week’s focus is — Giving~~I have created a Module within my Skills for Success/Social Emotional Learning Course that focuses on GIVING. I am encouraging students to give the “Gift of Moments” in this season of giving. I have included many ideas for their “Gifts of Moments” and I encourage the entire family to look at the ideas and inbox me others that you may have; I would love your input. I have also reminded students that Giving is one of the wonderful reciprocal actions that benefits the GIVER, just as much as the RECIEVER. 😊
As a family— You can make plans for Moments of Giving in this season together. Enjoy! Each of your children is a true gift to me.
Lead with a Giving Heart This Week 😊
This week, some of our Mustangs enjoyed Pizza with the Principal!
K-2 Counselor News
Starting Monday, November 30th, Ms. Morgan Stephens, our primary counselor, will deliver her lessons via video recorded lessons. While meeting in person with students has been meaningful for those who come, we have determined that many of our students and families need more personalized support from our school counselor. Students will still be able to access Ms. Stephens' lessons through Canvas at their scheduled counselor time, and now she will be available for more home visits, small group lessons, and individualized counselor support for families. If you have questions or if your student needs more intensive counseling support, please reach out to Ms. Stephens at 253-298-4532.
