Some important information for this week....
ETFO Job Action
As you may be aware from reports in the media, a new phase of job action for our teachers will begin on Tuesday. Among other things, this will include no collection of money, no planning of new trips, and no distributing of school/board information. This year the majority of our communication to you is through the Parent Peek at the Week, Edsby, Twitter and Instagram and this will continue through any job action. More information will be coming to you this week from the board office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
School Council Meeting
This past week we held our November School Council Meeting. Thank you to all the parents who joined us! We spent some time discussing the possibilities to consider for applying for another Parent Reaching Out Grant. Last year the Math/Science Night was a big hit. We're considering doing this again if we can have different workshop options. We are also investigating a coding or artist option. Stay tuned for more information after our next Council meeting!
Hot Lunch Program
This year we will be piloting a new hot lunch program that will be done online only. Once we have everything set up, we will provide you with the website for Lunch Box Orders and you will be able to select and pay for any hot lunches you wish. The orders are taken care of for us by the folks at Lunch Box Orders and delivered to the school labelled for your child. This greatly reduces the need for volunteers on many levels. Look for more information coming home in the near future!
Holiday Shopping - you can support School Council at the same time!
As you go about your holiday shopping, School Council would like to remind you about our ongoing fundraiser, FlipGive. FlipGive is free and easy to use, you just go to our team page before you start shopping at some of your favourite retailers, restaurants, hotels and gas stations. The school earns cash back from purchases made through FlipGive, at no additional cost to you!
You can purchase gift cards to use in-store at restaurants or online, or you can shop at many popular online stores. Join our team by downloading the app or visiting http://www.flipgive.com/join and sign up using our school’s team code VBGFCR. If you need any help getting started please feel free to email our team captain at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you, and happy holidays from School Council!
Kawartha Heights Food Drive
This week we'll be collecting for our annual Kawartha Heights Food Drive in support of the Salvation Army. We will also be collecting warm hats, mitts, socks and personal items for the Youth Emergency Shelter. We are fortunate that Mrs. Rees' class has offered to lead this wonderful initiative! Please help us to make this holiday a little happier for our community.
