Absence Notification Procedure

We will be using Absence Reporting form, also found on the FHS website, to report all attendance related notifications (full day absence, early dismissal, or late arrival). This form will require you to enter your child's six-digit student number and date of birth. Student specific medical information collected by the form will remain confidential and only be shared within the health and nursing services team.

Early Dismissals

Parents/guardians that will be picking up your student during the school day need to complete the Absence Reporting form (also found on the FHS website). If a student is aware that they will be leaving school early, they can stop by the desk of Lisa Schneider, the Attendance Secretary in the main office, to pick up a dismissal pass before school.

New Yearbook Ordering Site!

This year, yearbooks can be ordered ONLINE ONLY through Josten's. If you place your order by 9/17 you will receive free icons on your book! Prices will increase after November 5th, so be sure to order early.

Yearbook ads are to feature senior students only, and there is a limit of one ad per senior student. Each ad is $50 and the deadline is February 10th.

Please visit the yearbook website for more information or reach out to with questions.

Visitors & Volunteers

In regards to visitors or volunteers, any person entering any school building during the school day when children are present for school is required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Masks should be worn at all times when in the building, and the visitor/volunteer should limit direct contact with others and maintain social distance (6 feet or more) when able.

Visitors and volunteers who are outdoors during the school day where students are present are required to wear a mask unless they have been vaccinated. Visitors or volunteers in the building after school, in locations where students are not present, are not required to wear a mask.

Bus Reminders

  • Bus Driver Shortage: Please review this document that we shared on August 31 with all families to make you aware of how a bus driver shortage could impact our bus routes and how we will communicate this with you in the event we can not secure a driver for your child’s route.

  • Bus Riders Wear Masks: Any individual on a school bus (or any public transportation) is federally required to wear a mask. Please make sure your student has a mask before heading to the bus. Even if students are choosing not to wear a mask while at school, a mask must be worn on the bus at all times. Thank you.

  • Need a Bus Change or Addition? If you have any additions or changes needed for the busing of your child, please use this Bus Change or Addition Form.

  • Bus Drivers Needed: We are continuing to support First Student in their recruiting efforts. First Student provides $21/hour starting pay, a $1500 sign-on bonus, paid CDL training, 20-hours a week guaranteed with extra hours available, a child ride-along program, and no experience necessary. If you are interested in a career with First Student or know someone who may be, please pass along this opportunity. All hiring information for bus drivers is here.

Google Updates Restrictions for 4K-12 Accounts

As of September 1, Google changed their access to some of their Google services for all 4K-12 education Google accounts. Students in FPS started to see the effects of these new restrictions this week. Google has implemented these restrictions to protect student privacy and security and to restrict content designated as over 18.

The new restrictions enforces Google's Safe Search feature and limits YouTube access to videos categorized for education and appropriate for under 18. More details from Google can be found here.

Hey, Hey, Hey... check out the students who have been showing Saber Pride this week!

Lunch Menu Updates & Swapped Items

Our FPS Food Service Department is currently experiencing a number of changes in food supply offerings due to shortages or certain items. If you have a child that has certain dietary needs or restrictions, please review the online Nutrislice menu offerings for your building more closely so you can be aware of any food items that may have been swapped. Our Food Service staff is updating the menu daily with changes and they expect regular updates and food replacements for the foreseeable future.
Big picture

Our 9th and 10th graders will be engaging in the PreACT exam over the next two weeks. Our students will practice their college ready academic skills by completing the English, Math, Science and Reading exams in their English and Science classes. Once the exams are completed, both students and parents will receive their results. While our students will grow their core academic skills throughout the year in all of their respective courses, this measure will provide a valuable opportunity for students to establish a baseline score relative to these skills.
