Enjoying Fall..............
We have survived almost two months of school! Students are doing a fantastic job as they continue to follow the "Covid" procedures. It has become the current "normal". I refuse to call it the new normal because I sure hope to go back to how things used to be.......
Fall is officially here! This is my favorite season! It is sweatshirt weather, football season (GO STEELERS), and the trees are gorgeous colors! It is time for hot cider and of course, everything pumpkin flavored!
I encourage you to enjoy the season of fall as well! Maybe sit around a bonfire with the family and have some smores. Go for a walk and enjoy the trees and pretty leaves. You could even snap a few beautiful pictures of the kids in front of those trees! Pick some apples and make cider or applesauce or just eat them with caramel. Lastly, carve or paint some pumpkins. Whatever it is you decide to do, please enjoy the time with your family and make lasting memories!

FROM THE OFFICE OF MR. PERLICH, DEAN OF STUDENTS
Attendance:
Please know that attendance at school is very important and if illness is not the case, we do expect students to be in school. Please plan accordingly and make sure to have your child(ren) to school on time (8:45 on Mondays; Tuesdays through Fridays at 8:00) and try your best to schedule appointments around the school day. We have been very happy with student attendance so far this year even with the difficult times due to Covid.
Not only are we fighting the times of Covid, we are now entering the tough times of Influenza (flu). Some symptoms are very similar, please reach out to your family doctor for advice to determine if you need to quarantine or if it is likely the flu and your child will be able to return to school sooner. Please continue to communicate with the school on your child(ren's) illnesses and symptoms. We are here to work to work with you! You may report absences at any hour through our voice message system, call (260) 347-1354.
We are very excited to announce that over 2/3 of our online learners have returned ot in person schooling! Of course, in person school is the best learning for students! For those families still participating in online learning, please remember that attendance is very important. Students are expected to participate in learning every day. If this becomes an issue or is already an issue, you will be asked to place your child back into the school setting! Please refer to Ann Linson's recent e-mail regarding this information.
Safety:
We have held two successful fire drills now. We will now move to all students exiting the building during fire drills. During the month of October students will also participate in a lockdown drill.
If you have any questions about fire drills, tornado drills, lock downs or anything pertaining to safety, please contact the school and ask to speak with Mr. Perlich.
This year, the school building is locked. Please remember to call the school before coming to the building. We can come outside to pick something up or bring something to you if you schedule it with us. Thank you for understanding and continuing to work with us!

Counseling Corner with Miss Headley:
COPING SKILLS
A coping skill is a way that you handle overwhelming feelings, anger, stress, fear or any strong emotions you may have.
When faced with these overwhelming, stressful, or tense situations we can choose to use a positive or a negative coping skill. Student(s) will be learning and/or reviewing the differences between these coping skills and how to handle strong emotions. Adversity is inevitable, however given the skills they may find these situations a little less stressful when using a positive coping skill.
Here are a handful of the positive and negative coping skills we have been discussing. Please help us to continue the discussion at home to help your student choose a positive coping skill when dealing with overwhelming, stressful or tense situations.
Nurses Corner:
The mobile dentist will be at Northside on October 19th. This service is optional. A permission form must be completed by the parent/ guardian in order to participate. Please contact the school nurse if you did not receive a form and would like your child to be seen by the dentist at school.
The Noble county health department will be holding a flu shot clinic at Northside on October 23rd. Flu shots will be administered free of charge to students. This service is optional as well. Your child will not receive a flu shot without a permission form signed by the parent/ guardian.
Please continue to send a mask to school with your child each day! The school appreciates your support with this and Governor Holcomb's mandate. We want to thank you for discussing the importance of handwashing and the use of hand sanitizer with your child(ren), this is so important in preventing the spread of all germs.
Please contact Nurse Whitney if you have any questions or concerns related to student health.
Please collect Box Tops and send into school in a baggie or join the online Box Top App and scan your receipts
