Mrs. Gill's Class

Upcoming Important Dates

1/10- Morning Assembly, 8:30

1/20- No School, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

We Studied:

In language arts we read a play called "Ranita the Frog Princess." We focused on making judgements about the characters based upon their actions and our own experiences.

During math we took our chapters 7&8 test on multiplying one digit by multi-digit numbers. We started chapter 9 on multiplying 2 digit by multi-digit numbers and students shared their birthday party planning projects.

Any extra math facts practice through games, flashcards, websites, apps, etc, will really help them with this. If you have an ipad at home, Sushi Monster is an app. that we have been using in class to practice their facts that students really like. Also consider using a deck of cards to play the game of "War' with students (ask them to teach you this). A website students can go to practice their math facts is:

In addition using the Dreambox app. at home would be very helpful for students. Download the Dreambox app. and enter the following:

school code: rdew/solanahe

username: firstnamelastname (no space)

password: last 4 of student ID

Throughout writing, students finished their rough drafts on a fictional personal narrative about finding a gingerbread house. They used this writing to help them design their gingerbread houses at our class winter party.

In social studies we continued with our chapter 3 unit of study on explorers of California. Students will have a traditional test on this, as well as a performance based project. Students will design their own informational "trading card" on an explorer of their choice.

We are having so much in fourth grade! Thank you for reading about our week! Have a wonderful weekend!
