CLINIC NEWS FROM NURSE LIZ:
PARENTS OF CURRENT SIXTH-GRADE STUDENTS
All rising seventh-grade students will need to provide an undated Tennessee Certificate of Immunization prior to them beginning school this August. The form must be completed, signed and dated by a healthcare provider and show documentation of them having received the following vaccinations; Tetanus-Diptheria-Pertusis booster (Tdap), and 3 doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine. Your child WILL NOT be able to start school until they have received their required vaccinations and we have documentation of them on the TN Certificate of Immunization. We are unable to accept a copy of a vaccination record, or an incomplete form. TO AVOID DELAYS, PLAN AHEAD AND TAKE CARE OF THIS NOW.

RELATED ARTS NEWS:
5th GRADE STEM:
These students are working on a theatrical model of our solar system with Vanderbilt student, Mr. Jackson Reimers. Our 5th graders participate in a National Science Foundation Study concentrating on how kids learn through various models/representations.
6TH GRADE STEM:
These students are working on a physical representation of a guppy ecosystem. These diagrammatic models are compared to determine what each might teach us about the ecosystem. We will follow up with balancing the same ecosystem using a computational model and an embodied model.
7TH GRADE STEM:
We are working on String Art creations in 7th grade. The students have a set of coordinates to find on the coordinate plane on the back of the black cardstock. Think dot-to-dots. If they connect/weave each set of coordinates correctly, the design will be beautifully displayed with neon thread on the black side of the cardstock as seen in the picture!
SPANISH NEWS:
In Spanish class students enjoyed working in stations. This allowed students to work with their peers and move around the classroom.
EXTRACURRICULAR NEWS:
DUCKLINGS!
Mrs. Nash and Ms. Browns class hatched ducklings again this year. Students learned all about the incubation process and the life cycle of ducks. Between both classrooms, they hatched eight ducklings this year. The ducklings will be spending a few weeks at school, and then they will move to their new home on Mrs. Nash's farm in Centerville, Tennessee.

DRAMA CLUB NEWS:
POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT NEWS:
March will be a busy month for PBS! A lot of sweet treats are planned for this month. Your child can enter their PBS tickets into a drawing to win a snow cone on Fridays during the month of March. The PBS quarterly incentive is on March 27th and students will be able to pay PBS tickets to attend an ice cream sundae social. Students must meet schoolwide expectations for behavior, academics, and attendance to attend. We will be sending out a sign up genius in the next few weeks to collect donations for this event. We appreciate your support with this incentive.
We also have our next House day on March 13th, and will be focusing on the character trait WISDOM (Go Sapenta!). Wisdom is not just knowledge, but making good judgment. One way children show wisdom is by making good choices. Teaching them to STOP and THINK before making a decision, often leads to a better choice and the wise thing to do in the moment.
CELEBRATION! As we continue to focus on increasing positive behavior in our school, we have also seen a 33% decrease in office discipline referrals from last year to this year! Way to go students, staff, and families!
