Principal's Update
Dear Paularino Families,
World Kindness Day is November 13th. Our Librarian, Ms. Rosi, hosted a World Kindness Bookmark Swap with a neighboring school. Our Panthers were asked to participate by creating a kindness bookmark that would be sent to the other campus and placed into books in their library. We will receive their bookmarks and as students check out books they will get to see what kindness means to the other campus. Our Panthers created beautiful bookmarks for the swap and showed their kindness on paper. Way to go Panthers!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Schwartz

Safety Reminders
Many parents have been walking through the parking lot to drop off or pick up their students which is very dangerous for pedestrians and drivers. Please use the sidewalk for the safety of all students, staff, and parents.
When in the car line please remain in your car. This will help the car line to move faster with children getting in and out on their own. A staff member will be there to assist if needed. Please use kindness and patience when waiting for your student.
Thank you for your cooperation to keep all students, staff, and families safe.

COVID-19 Updates
Our goal is to keep students and staff in school, while maintaining a safe learning and working environment. You may learn more about NMUSD’s response and protocols through the district’s COVID-19 Resources for 2021-22. I would strongly encourage you to read through the FAQ. It contains A LOT of information about parent involvement, outside events, masks, contact tracing with quarantine options and isolation. This document will be updated regularly on the district COVID-19 page.
Additionally, please familiarize yourself with this Symptom Decision Tree and note that it is different from last year’s Symptom Decision Tree. This year’s decision tree is the main reference point when determining if a student needs to be sent home and for what length of time. If you are in doubt if your child should come to school, please refer to this document and/or contact our health office.
While social-distancing is no longer a requirement under the CDC K-12 School Guidance, it is still relevant when conducting close-contact tracing. A close contact is someone who has been within 6 feet of a COVID-19 infected individual for a period of 15 minutes or more during a 24 hour period regardless of masking. In the event a student or staff member tests positive, our health office staff will conduct close-contact tracing and notify those affected.
Thank you for your continued trust and patience as we continue to navigate this pandemic with your child's health, safety, and education as our priorities.
COVID-19 Dashboard
In an effort to continue to provide accurate and up-to-date information related to COVID-19 in our schools, a District dashboard was created that identifies the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases by school. The number listed includes current positive cases of staff and/or students within the past 14-day period. This information is updated daily and is located on the District webpage for COVID-19 Resources for 2021-2022.
There is no need to be alarmed or wonder if your child has been exposed when you see a positive case at your child’s school site. The District follows protocols, which includes collaboration with the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), who assist with contact tracing and help identify students or staff who need to quarantine. In the event of a positive case in our schools, as appropriate and under the direction of the OCHCA, the school nurse, principal, or District staff will notify any staff or students who are considered to be a close contact (less than 6 feet apart for more than 15 minutes) with a COVID-19 positive person. Each case is unique and in some cases, while uncommon, notification to low risk contacts MAY be necessary, based on the direction from the OCHCA. If you do not receive notification regarding a COVID-19 case, we do not believe your child has been exposed. Due to privacy laws, we cannot provide names or any other information about the people who test positive or those who have been in close contact.
