What is an actress?
-Perform humorous and serious interpretations of emotions, actions, and situations, using body movements, facial expressions, and gestures.
-Sing and/or dance during dramatic or comedic performances.
-Study and rehearse roles from scripts in order to interpret, learn and memorize lines, stunts, and cues as directed.
-Collaborate with other actors as part of an ensemble.
-Attend auditions and casting calls in order to audition for roles.
What are the conditions?
-Work under constant pressure and stress.
-Work assignments typically are short term.
-Work hours are often long and irregular.
-Need to maneuver about complex technical sets while staying in character and projecting their voices audibly.
-Actors must be fit to endure heat from stage or studio lights and the weight of heavy costumes.
What do I need to get or take to be an actress?
- The best way to prepare for a career as an actor, especially in the theater, is through formal dramatic training.
- Need experience.
- Recommended degrees are a bachelor and MFA.
- Recommended classes are drama and theater.
