Meet Our New Staff

Summer Reading

Last chance! The program ends on Friday, September 8.

Please CLICK HERE and select the Kids and Family Tab at the bottom. Use the login information that your child received over the summer.

Look for final totals in the next Wednesday Message.

New Absentee Contact System

If you're child will be absent, please phone our school office (610-287-9197). For children who are not recorded in our system on the day of an absence, the district will send an automated voice message and e-mail to parents. This is a precautionary measure on the part of the SASD, informing parents that their child was not in school that day and serving as a reminder to send in an excuse for the absence. Your help is most appreciated.
Oh, The Places You've Gone is a video compilation of the many postcards we received from Salford Hills families over the summer. We're quite a well-traveled group. Whether you went far and wide or staying in your own backyard, summer is all about enjoying the world and the wonders it holds. Surely we have done that well! Enjoy.

2017-2018 Homeroom Parents

Holiday parties are a highlight of every school year! If you are interested in helping in your child’s class for any of this year’s socials, please fill out the sign-up sheet in their classroom on Back to School Night. Our socials will be held from 2:00pm to 3:00 pm on the following dates:

  • October 31

  • December 22

  • February 14.

If you are willing to be the head parent for your child’s classroom, please indicate that on the sign-up. We need one head parent for each classroom to collect money, coordinate parent volunteers and handle correspondence between the teachers and home & school.

We will have a meeting to discuss this years’ socials on Wednesday, September 20th, at 6:00pm, just prior to the first H&S meeting. If you have any questions, or cannot sign up on Thursday night, please contact Diana McClure ( It would be helpful to indicate your child’s classroom and which parties you can attend this year. Thanks for your support!

From the Library!

The Fall Book Fair is coming! Our first book fair of the year will take place on Tuesday October 3rd (one day only) in the Salford Hills gym. The book fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Parents are welcome to visit the fair and shop with their children during the students scheduled class time. A schedule of class visitation will be sent home soon.

We are also looking for volunteers to help set up and run the fair. If you can help, there will be a Sign Up Genius in the next Wednesday Message with all of the volunteer information.

We can't wait to see you there!
Free Movie Night in the Park

Team Spirit Day - Thursday, September 14

Salford Hills Supports Houston

We've planned a special Spirit Day on Thursday, September 14 collecting donations to support our friends in Houston, Texas suffering from Hurricane Harvey. Look for a flyer in Monday's communicator describing all the details including how to participate. Teaching empathy and social responsibility are meaningful endeavors which we cherish. Spirit Days are valuable opportunities to help our children understand the importance of sharing with others.

More details to come!

Fourth Grade Breaks Out!

Through an Indian Valley Education Foundation grant, fourth grade students concentrate on problem-solving and deductive reasoning by cracking multiple codes to open Breakout Boxes. Sponsored by Breakout EDU, students use teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills in a learning game platform to solve a series of puzzles, all within 30 minutes. Multiple puzzles available online or authored by classroom teachers guarantee that our fourth graders will be cracking codes in the future -- much to their delight!

The Thoughtful Thursday Tree reminds us that Salford Hills is a far better place when we're kind to one another. Each Thursday, students share thoughtful deeds that they've seen throughout the week. We memorialize these deeds on our tree, a constant inspiration and challenge to create a better tomorrow.
